5.0 out of 5 stars A "must have" for the "New Age" or "Smooth Jazz" fan, July 25, 2000
This review is from: Living the Northern Summer (Audio CD)
This album is one of the best in this genre--whatever you choose to call it. It presents a series of musical vignettes that recall the innocence of childhood and it is almost magical in transporting the listener to that lost and happy time. The tunes are all top quality and are refreshingly engaging--unlike the dreamy ambiance of some other work in this area. Production values and arrangements are also first rate--buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Music., February 20, 2000

In my opinion, the music of Jim Chappell is what I call, "Life Music." Music that helps you reflect on past events, sustains and encourages you in your present circumstances, and inspires you to reach new heights in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars An albumn to pass the day away to..........., January 14, 1999

The easiest listening albumn I have ever owned. Close your eyes and it conjures up the happiest of thoughts. It is full and lush. An albumn everyone should have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique album, April 26, 2005

I've loved this album since I first heard it featured on a radio show years ago. It's hard to classify it as new age due to the strength of the melodies, and it doesn't have the depth or virtuosity of jazz. It's like a soundtrack to a forgotten book from your childhood.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Living the Northern Summer (Audio CD)
I have 3 of Jim Chappell's CDs and this is the best one for me. I love almost all of the songs in it. I bought it only because I couldn't find the cassette tape (from long long ago) I had of it, and it's not sold in any of the music shops in the Philippines anymore.

I bought a used one from Amazon for $0.99, paid $3 for taxes and shipping to NY, and paid $17 to my forwarder in NY for shipping to the Philippines ... it was all worth it!

Harmonious and melodious, the entire collection is very nice to listen to. I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't like this CD. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best By The Best, July 27, 2010
This review is from: Living the Northern Summer (Audio CD)
I agree with the earlier reviewer who says Jim Chappell gives us 'Life Music' like no one else. There are parts of this album that bring tears to my eyes. Joyous, life affirming, uplifting music for everyone by a Master Craftsman.
