5.0 out of 5 stars Living in the Now
If you're like me and your opportunities to read come in stolen moments here and there, then Gina Lake's new format in "Living in the Now,"is perfect for you! It doles out its perennial wisdom in bite-sized, easy to digest and assimilate pieces. Contrary to a popular misunderstanding, if "waking up" is your heart's desire, there is a lot to choose and commit to. This book...

2.0 out of 5 stars Was hoping for more
Ok, I really wanted to like this book. It purports to give you wisdom from a collective by the name of Theodore. I have no doubt to the authors sincerity. The book is generally an easy read. My concerns are with the teachings of Theodore which are not very advanced. Jokingly I would ask who is on the other end of the tin can and string that Gina is listening to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Read Format Another A+ Read by Gina and Theo, January 4, 2009
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Living In The Now: Reflections From Another Dimension About Being Happy In This One (Paperback)
This book by Gina Lake and Theo has a slightly different layout than her others. It is in a succinct bit-at-a-time format that makes it perfect to keep by the bedside or on a coffee table. Pick it up, read a bit of wisdom, and put it down with no worries about losing your train of thought.

Capsules of wisdom, to take as you would your vitamins...yes, these are vitamins for your essence.

Taken from Gina's blog, these wisdom bites are geared toward helping us live in the NOW, as you might have guessed from the title. It is exciting to read the deep books and go to seminars and workshops...but living these practices in the real world of grumpy spouses, cars that break down and people that are sometimes unkind makes it a bit tougher to practice them. Theo and Gina give us little tidbits to HELP stay in the Now even when the world is dragging you into a place of NOT NOW I WANT TO SCREAM and SLAP SOMEBODY!

As always, I highly recommend anything written by Gina and Theo. This is no exception. Add it to your spiritual library and read and re-read this gem of a book. Namaste, Gina and Theo.

This review is from: Living In The Now: Reflections From Another Dimension About Being Happy In This One (Paperback)
If ever there was a time for humanity to evolve in Consciousness it is this present moment. This book offers clear and concise guidance for living in the Now rather than being stuck in egoic thought. As it is written in stand alone chapters it can be read and savored in any order. Take note, though, once the reading starts it will be hard to put down! Three cheers and five stars for this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable Practical Insights, September 27, 2009
This review is from: Living In The Now: Reflections From Another Dimension About Being Happy In This One (Paperback)
Gina Lake has written another tour de force in this guidebook to embracing the present moment. She provides invaluable insights as to how to escape the lure of the ego through its multifarious tricks, such as fear, anger, and desire, which take our mind away from what we are engaged in and what is sustaining us Now. These fears and fantasies about the future and anger over perceived slights from the past sap our happiness and creative energy and deprive us from fully engaging with the Now, which is where our power resides. It is only by fully focused attention on this moment that we are able to act in a way that will create happiness in the next moment.

Gina brings her life experience as a talented psychological counselor and spiritual guide to this wonderful and essential guidebook. It is easy to understand and extremely practical because the chapters in the book, for example, Faith, Life Brings You What You Need, Feelings Are Not What You Think They Are, are culled from transcripts of Gina's talks. The language and concepts are easy to comprehend and give us much wisdom. One cannot fail to gain a wealth of practical insight that, if applied diligently to one's life, will make one much happier and appreciative of the Present Moment and facilitate the ability to anchor oneself in its richness.

5.0 out of 5 stars PRACTICAL AND DEAD ON!, July 9, 2009
This review is from: Living In The Now: Reflections From Another Dimension About Being Happy In This One (Paperback)
WOW. Gina Lake brings it again. This book is No-Nonsense, Practical Pointers to what takes me out of NOW, and how I can return to NOW. Not just a bunch of theory and concepts and pretty words, this book gives relatable examples to help me recognize how my conditioning, my mind, and my emotions take me OUT of LIFE and leave me feeling alone and separate.

This is a great book and great work and I don't experience it as even REMOTELY new-agey or nonsensical. As one who's path to awareness of "now" as the only reality, came somewhat through the study of Physics and Sciences, I am not a fan of drivel. This is anything but drivel and anyone with a Strong Desire to see the truth of how they are experiencing life, and what they can do about it, will love this BOOK.

I have spoken with a lot of writers, of fiction and non-fiction, and a lot of Scientists and Physicists, and many of them say the same thing: That what they write, or the theories that come to them, often just come from a stream of consciousness, almost as if they are just receiving it. Hence the phrase, "Writers Block".

So to any criticism that this work being identified as Channeled is a problem? Most writer's and students of the New Physics would see that as more of an, "of course it is". And frankly I don't care if it was narrated by a talking Skunk! I have experienced the material in this book as transformational and that is all I need to know!

5.0 out of 5 stars A biased review!, April 17, 2009

This review is from: Living In The Now: Reflections From Another Dimension About Being Happy In This One (Paperback)
Having read several of Gina's books, I have to admit to being a big fan of hers and therefore unabashedly biased! LIVING IN THE NOW contains 82 2-3 page mini-chapters, each one filled with spiritual insights and truths that are truly transformative.

For example, I just got through reading chapter 49, which is called TREATS. It's about how we use food (drugs, shopping, etc.) as treats to get ourselves to feel better about doing something we don't want to do or as a way of rewarding ourselves. However, the problem, as Gina points out, is that by covering up our pain with these TREATS (band-aids), we never get to the root of the problem: there's a part of our life or ourselves that we don't like!

However, this "thing" that is in resistance is not us at all, but the conditioned ego. Only when you stop identifying with this energy inside you are you able to experience the pure spaciousness and love that you are.

Great stuff and another winner by Gina and Theo!

The clarity of Gina's writing is amazing. So simple. Letting go of the ego in plain English. Love it!!! The format is wonderful, it has taken up its rightful position on the beside table, and I frequently carry it around with me. Thanks Gina, for being a fearless channel for truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide to the "here and now" and true happiness, January 14, 2009
By
This review is from: Living In The Now: Reflections From Another Dimension About Being Happy In This One (Paperback)
Along with Eckhart Tolle, I consider Gina Lake to be a great inspiration to my life. I have read several of her books and they have helped me get over tough times. While many of us have so many things to worry about, like the economic crisis and where we are going, Gina teaches us that happiness and security are right within us. We just have to look at things differently.

Living in the Now is her latest and each chapter is 2 to 3 pages long. I like to read one right after I wake up in the morning. It takes about 5 minutes but it keeps me happy the rest of the day. I recommend that everyone else read it the same way, though you will be tempted to read more because each page is so inspirational.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Essential Read, June 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Living In The Now: Reflections From Another Dimension About Being Happy In This One (Paperback)
I have always found that attempts to live the life described by the Enlightened Masters to be fairly challenging. While ultimate Realization may minimize the perception of individual consciousness levels in favor of abiding Oneness, the reality is that most of us experience a more finite and progressive awakening process, where the diminishing ego still plays a role in our lives. Gina Lake's books are enormously powerful in helping one to understand the ego and progressively lessen the gap, so that we may better live increasingly Enlightened lives. I joke with my friends that her book, "Living In The Now..." is like Eckhart Tolle on steroids. It is enormously powerful and will assuredly have a favorable impact on your life. It is a must read for all those who are more interested in `Being', rather than simple intellectual understanding.
