"ol Golden Days of Vocal Bluegrass Jesus Harmony,
By EHain= (Woodbridge, VA United States) - See all my reviews

This is the second identical CD I bought after the first became defective. Repeat buys of same CDs goes across my nature and is a testamony of variety, quality, and down-home comfort.3TO has a distinctive sound of all male harmony with wide sweeping swings in pitch, pace, and instrumentations of country devices. To me they have merged the wonderful sound of country music with unabashed Jesus praise. The wonderful bridge they built cleans up and crosses today's new-age Country Music of blatent pollution of adultry, booze, sex, and cars (I call idolitry). But it's not your church hymn rewrites so get ready to tap a toe, drum your fingers on wood, and sing with teh group!! Refreshing and spiritually rewarding is what I feel and probably is something Saul felt when he asked David to play for him...

Overall, todays music all sounds alike to me. Mostly what sets them apart is their costumes. Lady GaGa outdoes them all but her voice is no more distinctive than anyone elses. I have been trying out different genres of music and have found a treasure trove of choices on Amazon. III Tyme Out is one of those treasures. Russell Moore, the lead singer has an amazing voice. Try something from genres you would have never checked out otherwise. You might be pleasantly surprised. I know I am.

I had initially purchased this CD solely for the song "Across the Miles" that I had heard on Pandora radio. After listening to CD in its entirety, I fell in love with the way the voices blend and mesh in the good ole gospel tradition. As a HUGE fan of bluegrass music and its history, and this CD has quickly become a favorite in my collection. I will look for more CDs by Russell Moore and iird Tyme Out.

The old is made new,

IIIrd Tyme Out is an old-time gospel vocal quartet/bluegrass band with some updated Nashville sweetness. They're highly regarded in the bluegrass world by fans and fellow professionals alike, having won numerous awards from both over the years.
This album includes a variety of gospel standards and contemporary gospel compositions. There are upbeat numbers and slow ballads, played with bluegrass instrumental backing and sung a cappella. Bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs joins in on guitar for the Flatt and Scruggs song "I'm Working on the Road to Gloryland," which was selected as song of the year in 1998 by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America. Everything here is well performed, with sincere feeling. It's a little on the sweet side for me, but I think that will appeal all the more to many.

Third tyme out's group has former experience and now they combine this experience to form one of the top notch bluegrass bands. Russell Moore and Ray Deaton are award winning singers. This is one of my favorite bluegrass gospel cds. If you get a chance to hear this group, DON'T PASS IT UP.

This is a great introduction to III Tyme Out. Across the Miles is my favorite song on the album but they are all great as usual.
