O.K. but others much better!,

This review is from: Living with PCOS: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (Paperback)
With three new books out about PCOS I eagerly looked forward to this book. What good info! Easy to read! Maybe too easy? The information found could be found in intro articles about the condition. the other two new books out at the latter end of 2000 are much more information for the "in need of info patient" If you know very little this book is a great start, if you have the basics down look elsewhere.

Very informative,

I read this book and found it be very informative. It's written in plain english with no big complicated words, therefore easy for any person to read. Through study, I have found that there are many women out there who suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome and they don't know alot about the disorder , which causes irregular menstrual cycles, excess facial and body hair, weight gain, and adult acne. It's also a leading cause of infertility and if left untreated, the condition carries long term risk for endometrial cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. This book sheds light on the condition, it explains it well, talks about over-coming symptoms, choosing a doctor, getting diagnosed and coping with the emotional impact. I think the book is very informative and I highly recommend it to all women, if you don;t suffer from polcystic ovary syndrome, chances are you might know someone who does.

Best source of information for women with PCOS,

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and bought every book I could find on the subject. After reading all of them, I still think that this is the best choice. It has so much information that is easy to understand. I found out some things about this syndrome that I had not been aware of before, all thanks to this book. The book breaks down all the information on the subject to make it easy to comprehend. I placed an order for several other books so that I can give them to family members who don't understand much about this condition. I also ordered a copy for my doctor!

I live in Japan and have found a wonderful doctor. However, the language barrier has made it hard for me to understand my condition. This book was easy to understand and very up-to-date. It is written so that anyone can understand it. My doctor is even borrowing it now for more info.! Great book.

Great primer - Everything you need to know about PCOS,
By Linda D. Tillman "Linda T" (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews

This excellent book is a comprehensive reference source. From definition to treatment, from resources to pregnancy efforts, this book is a must-have for anyone with PCOS. As a fertility coach, I recommend this book to the women I am coaching who struggle with this syndrome. This book is simple to read, well-organized and packed full of information. It's also a small book, and can fit into your purse or bag for easy reading. I love books that I can read on the run, can carry with me, and can get a lot out of a few pages. This book fits the bill. I have read a lot about PCOS, but this is the best compact guide that I have read yet. For lots of basic, helpful information, buy this book!

I purchased the book as a gift for my niece who was recently diagnosed with PCOS. She was amazed when she recognized symptoms she had for years and some she hadn't even recognized. She felt the book was so informative she plans to give a copy to her doctor.

Good primer, great non-traditional med info.,

This book is very easy to read and will be a great help to the newly diagnosed woman with pcos. It offers practical information that supplements info found on the major PCOS sites like SoulCysters.com, or PCOSupport.org. What sets this book apart from other pcos books is the comprehensive section on non-traditional treatments for PCOS, like herbs. Bottom line, imo: Worth buying!

If you've been diagnosed with PCOS you must read this book. It is the definitive book for PCOS. Contains information about the many different treatment options available, and gives hope to people who are feeling hopeless. Don't suffer alone. There are others out there going through the same things you are. Take strength, get educated, and don't accept treatments that aren't working for you.

I got this book and another "PCOS the Hidden Epidemic" It was nearly embarassing to own this one once I'd read the other. After being diagnosed I received care from a specialist with this disorder. It isn't widely understood and most doctors are fairly ignorant about the issues of PCOS. This book simply offers some of the same poor information that standard doctors have. If you are facing this issue, I recommend the other book. It is much more indepth and answers questions this book doesn't even know to ask.

Easy to understand, but not comprehensive enough...,

This review is from: Living with PCOS: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (Paperback)
Very simple to understand for the newly diagnosed... but if you are the slightest bit knowledgeable about PCOS, this book won't do. There are clear, but generic explanations for the hows and whys of your bodies processes, and the role of hormones and how hormone imbalance will affect your entire body. There are also some good tips on how to deal! So if you have some of the symptoms and wonder if this might be you, or if you have just been diagnosed, you can get some general information here in an easy to understand format...
If you already know much about this syndrome and are looking for answers, I would look elseware! |
