Book Description

February 2, 2006
Hope For The "Talent-Challenged" Not just another "how-to" book, Living the Parable of the Talents, is a story of discovery and challenge. Tucked into the pages of this book are stories of individuals who, challenged to assist their church, discovered they were indeed "talented" people. Woven throughout the fabric of the book are scripture lessons used to guide a group of people from doubt to faith, from despondency to hope, from isolation to fellowship and from financial uncertainty to financial stability. People are never too old to find their talent and let God use it. Raising nearly a hundred-thousand dollars seemed insignificant when compared to more valuable lessons in "talent-discovery" and "talent-utilization." You might find yourself being challenged to seek your hidden talent and use it to the glory of God.

Often we fail to realize how everything we have is a gift from God. All we have does not belong to us; it belongs to God. With this type of attitude, the Silver Dollar Campaign will succeed.

In order for each person to feel they are contributing something toward the "cause," it becomes necessary to help individuals discover their "talent."

When visiting one of our Deacons, she told me she didn’t know what talent she had. She said she really didn’t see herself as a "talented" person. Surely there was something this person could do well! I encouraged her to think creatively about herself. She thought for a few minutes and said her dad had once told her she had the "gift of gab." How could she use this gift to raise money?

"With God all things are possible." Think big and act realistically.
