Nasio Fontaine: A Voice From the Golden Age of Reggae,

There are moments on this subperb roots reggae album where Nasio Fontaine sounds as if he's channeling the spirit of Bob Marley with his vocals. I don't think anyone is going to hold that against him.
With all of the slackness and hip-hoppery of today's crew of dancehall stylists in reggae music, it's refreshing to hear from someone who is keeping the flame alive on behalf of the pre-Eighties, roots and conciousness reggae music. Most younger reggae singers have distanced themselves from their own roots and have embraced the current mutation of hip hop beats, funk driven riddims, world music sounds, and authentic reggae music has become, only an afterthought. Exceptions to this are Anthony B. and Nasio. Nasio is a voice from the golden age of reggae, and let's hope he doesn't become a voice in the wilderness. Contemporary regagge doesn't embrace Jah righteousness and oneness as Nasio is compable of doing, and he embraces his roots with passion, clarity and rock solid musicianship.

Jah look good music, who you may ask? Nasio on his latest cd "Living In The Positive". Well all I can say is that the man got a talent too put me in a mellow mood. Right now I have escaped this world on a musical journey that has my spirit in the presence of the good Lord and that's a wonderful feeling. My body can't stay still, in a meditation trance I am where music is the water soothing my soul. With a sun that carries the problems of this world I man can't be hurt cause this great music protects me from all the harmful rays it sends my way. I am just a soul bathing in the river of Jah blessed soulful music which Nasio has created.
Thanks Nasio May Jah continue to lift your spirit so you can take us higher. www.nasioreggae.com

Nasio Fontaine's Living in the Positive is top quality work. Beautiful Reggae music, beautiful voice reminiscent of Bob Marley. He is an underappreciated artist.

If your reggae collection goes as far as Bob Marley's greatest or a Matisyahu piece of garbage you need not continue. If you are a reggae fan you know all about Nasio, if you dont, buy all of his stuff. His next release is better than this but this is awesome too.

This is just what Reggae music needed! Marley has a bloodline BUT, a Spirit can finds it's way OUT OF a bloodline. This is just where Bob Marley's Spirit is - Nasio Fontaine.

Nasio's Music,
This review is from: Living in the Positive (Audio CD)
If you're into conscious Reggae, you've got to listen to Nasio Fontaine's music. When I first heard Nasio, I mistakenly thought it was some yet to be released master tape of Bob Marley. Nasio's lyrics take you back to a time when the words of a song pulled on your heartstrings; a feeling that is so absent in comptemporray music. And the beat is definitely infectious. I rate him up there with the likes of Bob, Peter Tosh, Jacob Killer Miller and the great ones...

Nasio - "Revolution" CD Review,
By Richie Rocks (Middx, UK.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Living in the Positive (Audio CD)
Nasio's phenominal ascent to the international stage is no doubt a manifestation of the majestic talent embodied in his every recording. From total obsurity 15 years ago in the tiny village of Bagatelle, Dominica , Nasio has worked his way through small beginings in his homeland, travelling to the Virgin Islands and the US and reaching Jamaica in persuit of his craft.
Althought this 1999 album is the 'preprogrammed/sequenced' precursor to the smash 'acoustic' LIVING IN THE POSITIVE, the twelve original tracks on the CD evoke some of the purest messages of Rastafar-i conciousness. Some of Nasio's talented and spiritual writings and titles lend curiosity to the meat of the man's thought. Titles like Turn Your Hate Around, Black Tuesday - a collaboration with Ital Joe, Ahome And Abroad, through to Bondage leads one to find witty original but truthful lines like "Chris-thief-a-Crumble-Us" (Christopher Columbus). With a fabulous line up of Kingston's finest musicians, the music is pure captivation, rocking, skanking, movin' through reggae's finest variant styles of 'one drop' 'rockers' 'steppaz', 'dubbin', 'groovin' and ends with a mellow 'nyabinghi' thought provoking chant in the track "Trod A Ithiopia". Recorded and mixed at Aphelion Studios, Kingston, Jamaica, the album was produced by Lenny Shillingford and Nasio. Track Listing: 1. Jah Glory 2. Truth Will Reveal 3. Turn Your Hate Around 4. Apple 5. My Defense 6. Ras Tafari 7. Black Tuesday 8. Ahome And Abroad 9. Revolution Souljah 10. Rainbow Generation 11. Bondage 12. Trod A Ithiopia

Own It!!!,
This review is from: Living in the Positive (Audio CD)
Own it, own it, own it. I forget that there exist musicians such as Nasio that actually still make roots + culture style reggae. That too in the current timeframe. This disc is phenomenal, a true listener should not go w/out this album. I have nothing more to say because all that needs to be said should just be heard.

Nasio is a voice coming from the wilderness and is destined for great things... His voice is soothing and his lyrics are important and spiritual. Buy this album and you will not be dissapointed. Also look for his earlier albums, Reggae Power and Revolution...

This is some of the most powerful reggae I have heard. Nasio Fontaine from the island of Dominica rips it up on this c.d. with positive lyrics and great music. You should grab this c.d. right now, you won't be let down.
