Very Impressed!,

This review is from: Living Proof Straight Making No Frizz Styling Cream (Misc.)
I have boxes full of salon hair-care products that I've used and didn't like, so I purchased the small container of this bearing in mind if I didn't like it I could always return it to Sephora.
I have naturally meadium-thickness frizzy-wavy-long-ish hair... it hangs down between my shoulder blades when I straighten it. If I were to ever let it air dry I would look like Diana Ross from the 80's LOL I wash my hair every single day. If I don't its a greasy mess. I also blow dry and flat iron it every day as well. I use the Soymilk Sexy Hair shampoo and conditioner (you can get it from most salons) and it keeps my hair very healthy especially considering all that I put it through every day. (Sorry this is a little long but I want people with similar hair types to mine to be able to see how it works for me!) Even with the thickness and length of my hair I only used a dallop about the size of a penny and it was plenty. It cut my blow-dry/flat iron time from 17 minutes down to 8 minutes which was great. I dry my hair with my head upside down to add volume, and it definitely felt softer while I was drying. And amazingly, I almost didn't need to run my flat iron through it after! Unfortunately my bangs are in the process of growing out so I did have to use it a little. It added a little texture to my hair and a lot of softness. I use a spray shine serum (also by Sexy Hair) everyday just for extra sparkle and I did use it today, so I can't really say whether or not it added its own shine to my hair. I live in Northern Indiana where right now it is snowing. All the schools were on a 2-hour delay today because of a thick misty fog... when I walked outside I thought for sure my hair was going to turn kinky like it always does in that sort of weather but I was surprised when I got to work and checked in the mirror it was still perfectly straight. At work I was telling my mom about it (she has really course frizzy-overprocessed hair) and she ran her fingers through my hair and commented that it felt like soft bunny fur. She is ready to go and buy some for herself, and she never spends money on products like this. I just have to say that after using it a second time my hair is even softer, silkier, shinier and smoother than yesterday! I really am amazed! The lady who talked to me about this at Sephora said that it will improve your hair with each day of use and she wasn't kidding! I may go back and buy the curly product as well and just try it to see what it does if I use a diffuser on my hair to bring out the curl. If nothing else I have read in a number of reviews that the curly product is great for adding texture to straight layered hair (my hair is very layered). The other great thing about this is it also contains a thermal protectant, so for people like me who wash, blowdry, flat iron every day that added bonus will help reduce damage significantly. The light smell of the product reminds me of Clinique's "Happy" perfume fragrance. I can't smell it in my hair now that its dry, but it was nice when I put it in my wet hair. I would definitely recommend this. And remember, if for some reason you don't love it, which I can't see happening, you can return it to Sephora for a full refund. Also remember you can have the associates who work there give you a sample jar of it to try it out for a few days, too. ;-)

Love this product!,

Like another reviewer, I've tried every product on the market to tame my wavy (okay, usually frizzy) hair without weighing it down. The problem I always run into with the other products is that if I use enough product to tame the frizzies, my hair is weighed down. And forget skipping shampoo for a day--the amount of product I have to use to tame my hair in hot & humid Dallas makes skipping a shampoo impossible.
So, I asked for a free sample of this product at Sephora (I recommend you do this if you can, as the reviews indicate that some people have vastly different reactions than I have, and the product is pricey). This stuff is great! At the recommendation of the staff at Sephora, I used three good sized dollops for my towel-dried medium length hair. I was able to blow out my hair much more quickly than with other product, and my hair is soft, shiny, and most amazingly, not frizzy! Even after a day outside in Dallas humidity, the frizz stayed gone. My hair feels light and fluffy, and I've even ventured to skip a day on shampoo because my hair feels and smells cleaner. For me, this product resulted in soft, manageable waves. As I said before, I don't try to completely straighten my hair, so not sure about that. For my purposes, I'm thrilled with this product and it has saved me approximately 20 minutes of grooming time in the morning and my hair looks better than it did before. Yea!

NOTICED NO DIFFERENCE!,

I tried two of these products for a couple months and they did NOT do what they say they do. I was so disappointed because I was hopeful that a new technology would actually work. Do not waste your money!! This line does not do anything to stop frizz!! I returned both items to Sephora, grateful I didn't have to throw my money away...cuz they DO NOT work!

Don't waste money and time,
This review is from: Living Proof Straight Making No Frizz Styling Cream (Misc.)
I always had frizzy hair, my hair holds its shape usually, but come humidity - it's all one big mess, not curly, not straight, puffy, frizzy, you name it. When I read about this product, I had to try it. I have been using other products, like John Frieda that did control some frizz but it wasn't perfect. Far from it. So I decided to try this one, hoping that it's the miracle I was waiting for. I took a bottle to a Caribbean getaway and eagerly waited for the moment I could have dinner outside, my hair still sleek and shiny not affected by the humidity (it's supposed to "create a barrier". Right?) Wrong. 2 minutes after I stepped outside, my hair became frizzier, heavier, and out of control. I was so disappointed. Then I said, well, maybe this was 100% humidity, I should try it in New York, when I come back. After a workout one day, I used it again, stepped outside to a mild, rainy day, and bang, my hair got back to its natural frizzy state. I must say, other products have been slightly better, with this one, it curls and frizzes after a few minutes outside. I called the company, and their rep told me that the products are "better used with silicone free shampoos". Right. There are hardly any silicone free shampoos in the market, and those which can be found, like Fekkai's "Au Naturel" cost a fortune. I am not even going to try this combination, because it is going to fail miserably. As far as I am concerned, silicone containing products have been doing more for me than this revolutionary, miraculous product. Anyone giving it 5 stars from Nevada or Arizona? When I go to those places, even my hair looks amazing.

With shipping I paid approx. $30 for this product. What a rip off!! I was very upset to find it doesn't work as advertised. I have medium length, wavy, thick hair which I straighten every day. This stuff didn't work any better than the $3 products you can buy at Walmart. I live in FL and it does not fight the humidity at all!!! Does not make it soft, does not help it get any straighter than if I used no product at all. Don't waste your money!! This product is not worth it.

Created an Irreversible Frizz Situation,

This product didn't work at all for me. In fact, it made me look worse than any other product has. I'd washed my hair and put some of this product in my hair before blowdrying. During blowdrying, I started looking like I'd stuck my finger in an electric socket. I kept thinking "well maybe it will smooth down as it dries more completely." Nope. I paused blowdrying and put more on. The effect was still bad and getting worse--frizz galore. At the end of the blowdrying, I looked like one of those "before" pictures on the anti-frizz advertisements. It was the worst effect I've had from a hair product yet. I had frizz ALL OVER instead of just on the ends and a few random spots here & there. I tried putting my usual products on over it to smooth my hair back down, but this stuff seemed to RESIST these other products. If I hadn't had to rush off for work, I would've re-washed my hair to get that stuff off it. I had to use a TON of other anti-frizz products to get to the point where I could leave the house. It DID make the hair FEEL softer, but the look was horrendous frizz.
I have naturally curly, wavy, thick (wild) hair, color-treated and naturally dry anyway. It's a battle, always.

It did not perform as advertised. Quite a disappointment. I'm so glad I didn't waste my $ on this expensive non working product. (I used a gift card). I did research and found a review that stated after she called the company and complained that it didn't work, that people use non-silicone shampoo and conditioner. I did just that. Still didn't work. Don't waste your money.

Works great, but is expensive!,
This review is from: Living Proof Straight Making No Frizz Styling Cream, 4 oz (Misc.)
This is a super product for those of us who want straight hair but were born with wavy hair. I found that I had to use quite a bit, two quarter size squirts, for my long hair. My came out straighter than usual after my blow dry and was very soft. I still had to use a flat iron, but it didn't take quite as long to get all of my locks super straight.
The only negative of this product is the price. Considering the amount that I need to use, I would go through a bottle a week. If you have the bucks, try it, you will like it.

I spent about $50 for two of bottles and I was very disappointed by the size and the amount of product I would have to use to cover my dense hair. The smell is revolting. Didn't help with the frizz and left my hair feeling a bit dry and weird. To not waste the product I just added it to my leave in conditioner. This product maybe best suited to Caucasian hair types. It just isn't enough for African American hair.

Great Product, It's Absolutely Remarkable!,

I have so far used this product twice and it does everything the manufacturer said it would do. I have extremely frizzy hair after shampooing it and must act on it immediately after shampooing. The first time I used my regular shampoo and conditioner, but the second time I used there's. It did well with either of the choices, but somewhat better with their product line in unison. My hair usually starts to frizz up before I can finish my whole head, because I start in the back of my head and go forward. By the time I get to the front of my head the back of my hair that touches my neck has frizzed, but not with this product. I did the back of my hair and took a break and left the hair down, whereas I usually use a Duck Clip and pin it up.
It didn't frizz and it is still in tack after 1 1/2 weeks, I wanted to see just how long it would go before frizzing. I'm getting ready to do my hair again and this time I'm going to curl it. Not only has this product made my hair like silk but it's also very bouncy and light, I absolutely love "Living Proof" and I'm a really grateful customer who will continue to use this product! One woman commented that she only had to use a portion the size of a dime, I needed more product but it lasted until I washed my hair again, and my hair still is straight. The instructions on the bottle states that the hair should be thoroughly coated from scalp to the ends. This depends on the length, the thickness and the condition of your hair as to how much you will have to use. But the second time around I used less product than the first time, which means to me that this product doesn't only stop the frizz but it also improves the condition of your hair with each use. |
