ACOUSTIC NEW ORLEANS BLUES.,
By deepbluereview "deepbluereview" (SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Living Room (Audio CD)
A refreshing new release from a New Orleans guitarist who refers to his music as "cosmic blues". That is an interesting characterization for 14 original and catchy tunes that are firmly grounded and may better be described as roots music with obvious delta influence.Osborne's vocals are soothing and soulful and almost recall a younger Van Morrison. His guitar playing is consistent and upbeat. In addition to Osborne, nineteen other musicians make an appearance on the disc including Keb Mo' on "Greasy Money". This is definetly one of the better acostic releases of 1999 and one that deserves support from blues fans. You just can't miss with this one!

He's Got the Groove,

I had heard a lot about Anders Osborne (most recently at a Dr. John concert) and decided to buy his cd without having heard his music. And I'm so glad that I did because I absolutely love it! He does an excellent job of combining great guitar playing, with a great voice, and great lyrics - and I love the beat. I highly recommend this cd - you'll be very glad that you bought it!

A great, thoughtful album,

I saw Anders a few weeks ago and was blown away by his live performance. I picked up a couple cd's the following day and this is my favorite. Catchy vocals, provocative lyrics, and memorable hooks. Greasy Money is such a gritty, slick song while Home Coming is a short, naked, and bold track I had to listen to 4 times in a row after the first listen. Vocals sound a bit like Paul Simon, only with some of that good ole' Nawlins flavor. Highly recommend this album....

Anders' best so far...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Room (Audio CD)
This is Anders' best so far. Very strong lyrically and his guitar playing is in top form. A dazzling array of musicians and voices (Johnny Vidacovich, Tommy Malone, Theresa Andersson, Keb' Mo', Leon Medica, et al) make this a must-have.

i love this cd - anders performs his true musical soul - a truly wonderful new orleans son and an excellent cd - each cut is different and takes you through many moods of the blues! take heed tho - this is anders with a new backup band - the best ever

On 88.1 FM in Orange County CA on a blues program they call 'Nuthin' But the Blues' and the announcer said that he had a DVD out but I can't find it on here, mostly cd's only, so basically he needs to do a DVD for his fans so they can see him live baby live. And I hope he sees this post. |
