Book Description

Theology & the Sciences July 1, 2006
Sally Thomason's research and reflection on aging disclose the scientific and medical oversights and cultural biases that inform our attitudes toward aging. Based on the personal experiences and stories of dozens of women interviewed, Thomason proposes strong, new, holistic perspectives that can overcome our cultural misconceptions and animate personal, medical, and religious work by and with the aging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, November 4, 2006
This review is from: The Living Spirit of the Crone: Turning Aging Inside Out (Theology and the Sciences) (Theology & the Sciences) (Paperback)
This is a fascinating and exciting book - part history, part anthropology, some science, some medicine, part phychology and philosophy and theology - but principally it is a call to optimism, a call for us to realize that we are never finished but perpetually created, and for us to live fully, to fully live. A must read for the over 60 set!

4.0 out of 5 stars HIghly Readable Long Interviews Offer Insights into Aging, January 20, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Living Spirit of the Crone: Turning Aging Inside Out (Theology and the Sciences) (Theology & the Sciences) (Paperback)
Author Sally Palmer Thomason suggests that aging is an opportunity for writing a new script for your life.

She uses the long interview format to provide examples of how other older women have done exactly that.

I support Thomason's position that aging is not a disease that needs to be treated.

The reason that I have given this four stars, instead of five, is that I do a lot of reading about women and aging, achieving wholeness, and Jungian theory. Much of this book was well-known to me, but it is a good starting place if you are beginning to delve into this material.

I have longer comments about this book at a http://ordinaryordinary.blogspot.com/2011/06/wise-crone-archetype-is-depicted-in.html
