Only one review of this album??? Why God WHY?!?!?!,
This review is from: Living with a Tiger (Audio CD)
Actually, I think this is my first review on Amazon, but I don't remember. Though I have purchased a tremendous amount from this online company over the years. I don't have time and usually leave it to others who do it better. But I just cannot fathom why this album and this incarnation of a Seb Rochford collective's genre piercing genius (aka Acoustic Ladyland) have not elevated to the heavens of widespread praise and worship. I'm not exaggerating. This is a masterpiece in contemporary art. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that it depresses me that more people don't openly herald it as such. If you appreciate originality and art and have good taste in all things that make one human, you will love this music. Absolutely original, nothing like it since Seb Rochford's other associated projects. Not to give Seb all the credit here, he's the drummer and composer and most of his projects/musical collectives are consistently original and worth praise. But Acoustic Ladyland is about the interplay of truly great musicians. Ruth Goller's low, hip throbbing bass, Pete Wareham's head banging, saxophone explosions, and Chris Sharkey's post-punk, melodic guitar all add up to some hard hitting jams! You cannot sit still when their sound hits the airwaves. It shakes your soul. Some might think it a gimmick to blend genres of such wild diversity as Jazz, Punk, metal, post-rock or whatever, but this is not a simple genre mixing gimmick - this orchestrated sound is a world of its own and should not be categorized. So have a listen. Please. Go on youtube or something and have a taste then buy this album and write some reviews about it. So I can feel hope again for art and some kindred fellowship with my generation.

This review is from: Living with a Tiger (Audio CD)
This album at times seems to not know where it's going, but does a good job at it. I enjoy hearing the saxophone within rock stuff. When the sax isn't play though, I don't find myself enjoying the songs as much. That's not to say that they aren't still good. 'Death by Platitude' is probably the most fun song for me. It is upbeat at first, and then in the middle gets a little trippy, but in a fun way, and then the drums kick us back into upbeat. If you were looking for the usual run of the mill type music, this is not really the place for you.
