Two audiocassettes contain the recitals of selected poems by Catullus and Horace, read in their original Latin by Robert Sonkowsky, professor of Classics at the University of Minnesota. Sonkowsky uses the reconstructed original pronunciation based on the latest scholarly research on the phonology of classical Roman Latin; and it sounds quite exotic and surprising -- with many nasal and other sounds you wouldn't expect -- nothing like the Latin you heard in class. There is an accompanying booklet with an introduction, the Latin text of the poems and English translations.
