Dr. Sattilaro's Goodbye to Macrobiotics.,
By Harold Kulungian (Amherst, MA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Living Well Naturally (Paperback)
I read this book some years ago, before the author succumbed to cancer death when his disease returned seven years after he had healed himself completely, as he told the story in his previous book: RECALLED TO LIFE: THE STORY OF MY RECOVERY FROM CANCER (1982).As his photo on the book's cover clearly shows, the author's condition had become extremely contracted (Yang) from following the pressure-cooked Macrobiotic diet recommended by Michio Kushi. Dr. Sattilaro eventually became disillusioned with Kushi and expressed publicly his dissatisfaction with the Oriental jargon (Yin/Yang), which he felt alienated Americans from Macrobiotics. He then severed his formerly close relationship with Kushi. The purpose of this book is to pass along the natural healing wisdom that the author learned through his experience of Macrobiotic healing of his cancer, but minus the Oriental philosophy, utilizing instead straightforward commonsense English. |
