5.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging, enlightening and challenging, May 14, 2005
This review is from: Living Worship: A Biblical Guide to Making Worship Real in Your Life (Paperback)
What does the word worship mean to you? It may bring to mind praise and worship, worship service, worship leader, and in a non-religious setting, worship of power, money, or beauty.

After reading this book, I'll think of worship in a different light. John Randall Dennis has a warm and friendly way of writing, making his book very easy to read as he shares his insight into worship as God desires it.
Mr. Dennis shows us pictures of authentic biblical worship that God put in the Bible for us to see. His writing brings to life the worship experience of ancients such as Job, Isaiah, David and Jehoshaphat.

Job
Yes, worship in the book of Job! My view of worship is often that which comes spilling out of a heart filled with happiness, not in the suffering of Job.

It doesn't have anything to do with our circumstances.

Isaiah
This very `religious' man was undone when he actually came into contact with the Almighty.

True worshipers are awed by the `other-ness' of God.

David
This king didn't care who saw him as he worshiped God with abandonment.

"Worshipers abandon their pride to worship"

Jehoshaphat
Worship in a time of war.

"Worshipers respond to the word of God with deliberate acts of worship."

We see worship in awe, with abandon, in suffering and in war. We learn to worship with perseverance and humility. It is for every experience in life.

I recommend "Living Worship" for anyone who has a genuine desire to draw closer to his Creator. As I read, I found that authentic worship is intended to be more natural in all circumstances than I thought.

I loved the book. It was, at the same time encouraging, enlightening and challenging. This is an inspiring book that can lift you out of `normalcy' and show you a life of authentic and intimate worship. Worship for God alone.

"Living Worship" is about 135 pages that are divided into twelve chapters with helpful discussion questions at the end of each.
