5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond The Usual and Into the Application, November 30, 2003
This review is from: Living Your Joy: A Practical Guide to Happiness (Hardcover)
One of the most exceptionally valuable aspects of this book is its clear, concise, simple to follow guidelines for how to move beyond TALKING about how SOMEDAY you will live your joy..... it goes into LIVING your joy right here right now by following this step and that step and the other step... clearly, concisely AND ALSO with signature Suzanne Falter-Barnes style.

Its kind of like getting down to the brass tacks of the situation... actually getting the fingers-- the palms -- the fists into the fingerpaints and just going for it in whatever way you can right here right now and then getting up tomorrow and doing the same thing so that in two weeks, two months, two years from now you will be LIVING your joy... rather than two weeks, two months, two years you would have been still TALKING about someday.....

Even before you get to the meat of the book you'll likely notice the delightful size, perfect for tucking into your bag as you're heading off to who knows where.

And when you get the opportunity to open it up there are golden nuggets on every page. There's nothing fake or sugary about the advice given and Suzanne avoids sounding like a re-run of cheerleader camp or wearer of rose-colored glasses.

Her warm conversational style and easy delivery make the material in the book an encouraging gift to the reader. And both author and content contributed to its spot on my recomended reading at http://susanreynolds.blogs.com/

As an artist/engineer/music composer, I found this book very helpful in easing some of the things that I have on becoming Joyful...is to follow the dream...yet there is so much that I am trying to "protect". This book is an all round words of wisdom and the author seems to know how to express what my difficulties are and what to do about it. I am not so alone and it is great that she followed her dream to fruition. She made it possible for herself to share her gifts, in return, help us to share our dreams.

5.0 out of 5 stars MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW, November 30, 2003
This review is from: Living Your Joy: A Practical Guide to Happiness (Hardcover)
Do you thirst to turn your dreams into reality? Is your heart crying to release the creative ability inside of you but you just are not aware of how to begin? If your answer is yes to these questions "Living Your Joy" is the book for you.

Suzanne Falter-Barns takes a hard look at what is stopping us from forging forward to make our dreams a reality, you might not like what you find there.
She points out how we must make the decision to work to remove the road blocks that are stopping our dream, be it lack of time, lack of finances, or any of the numerous excuses we use that hinder us.
Do you realize what clutter can do to you emotionally or what part it can play in hindering you from moving ahead? Interesting!
Ouch! The finger points inward as perhaps our own errors are exposed! Quite an eye-opener!

Take heart however, the author gives you ways to overcome these road blocks and a listing of resources are available for your use, given after most chapters that will aid you in your quest to succeed. Bravo!
The book is chock full of pointers, ideas and down to earth advice that you can impart in your own life to help bring your dream to fulfillment.

All in all a real character building book that will make you take a good look at why you have not succeeded with your dream and how you can make it a reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Joyful Experience from Suzanne Falter-Barns, November 4, 2003

This review is from: Living Your Joy: A Practical Guide to Happiness (Hardcover)
Suzanne Falter-Barns has hit another home-run with her newest book, "Living Your Joy: A Practical Guide to Happiness". I loved her first book, "How Much Joy Can You Stand", so much that it spurred me to subscribe to her newsletter and take several courses from her. "Living Your Joy" is a perfect follow-up book in that it shows us the "How-To" possibilities that many "living-your-dream" type books leave out. After having read "Living Your Dream" I know not only that it's possible, but there are concrete steps I can take towards making my dreams reality. Thank you, Suzanne. Don't stop writing books and creating courses - we dreamers need you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding Your Focus, February 21, 2007
This review is from: Living Your Joy: A Practical Guide to Happiness (Hardcover)
I love these books that promise to deliver the secrets of happiness. As the author points out in this book, too many people think they will be happy if they just had more money, more time, more energy, etc. In 235 compact pages, she convinces you that happiness is within you and by following her easy tips and guidelines, you can achieve happiness.
I like that it tells you how to avoid things that drain your energy and advises that you run your dream like a business. So much of being happy seems to be attitude and focusing on your real priorities. This book does a good job telling you how to do that.
Each section is short and to the point, so this is a quick read that you can digest when you have a few minutes to spare in your busy life. You owe yourself that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical books with some great tips, October 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Your Joy: A Practical Guide to Happiness (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed this book because it gave me some new ideas and helped me to eliminate several of my time wasters. I would place this book in the useful, recommended category because I believe that there is something for everyone here. If you want to OPTIMIZE your success and experience everyday happiness, I strongly recommend you read Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self which shows you how to make the most of every situation and gives you roadmaps to resolve painful feelings by yourself. I can't imagine ever needing a therapist since I read Optimal Thinking. If you have these books on your bookshelf, you will be self-reliant and happy too.

Good Eats Fan (Severna Park, MD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Living Your Joy: A Practical Guide to Happiness (Hardcover)
Suzanne is a great teacher and above all practical. She guides readers through creating action that they will be comfortable with and can keep doing. She cuts through the "lala" sappiness and talks about the real feelings and fears. I've taken courses from her and used her books for the last 2 years. Her fresh and pragmatic viewpoint has saved my life.I've gone from a soul devouring high tech job that left no time for my true interests to a lucrative j.o.b that has opened up the time and energy to begin following my dreams and having Joy for myself!
