5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational and fascinating, February 11, 2010
This review is from: Living through the Racket: How I Survived Leukemia.and Rediscovered My Self (Paperback)
I was lucky enough to have been given an advance copy of this book, and have since sung its praises to everyone I know. I am not a big tennis (or even sports) fan, but I am a sucker for a good story. Corina is a dynamic woman who has overcome much in her life and enjoyed great success. Yet I found her incredibly relatable; no matter what she was going through, be it leukemia treatments or a Wimbledon victory, I felt like I was right there with her. While women will relate to her journey to independence and sports fans will thrill at her depictions of being a pro tennis player, this book will inspire anyone who reads it. I highly recommend it.

I'm a tennis fan and seeing Corina's book here i didn't wait a minute to get it. maybe because I'm romanian, i could relate a little bit more to Corina's parents way of thinking but let me tell u this....awesome book and quite a story to tell.I even shed some tears reading this. We have to give some credits to the writer, allen rucker, also, but i could not let this book down until the last page. thank you Corina for sharing this with us and i must admit i will admire u even more.
Wishing u all the best, health and happiness i hope u find this book an inspiration or a lesson if u are going through hard moments, illness or even a divorce or u can take it as the story of a champion.
love u Corina.

This autobiography was heart wrenching and heart warming. The courage that Corina showed struck me. Even if you're not a tennis player, I believe you can relate. I've sent the book to my sister, who also does not read very much as I was so touched and impressed.

A wonderful book that combines the professional tennis tour with the struggle against a form of cancer. This is a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frank Bio of Family, Disease, and Tennis, August 3, 2010
This review is from: Living through the Racket: How I Survived Leukemia.and Rediscovered My Self (Paperback)
I know next to nothing about tennis. But I do know about the dynamics of family and how a potential tragedy can define each member. Ms Morariu provides a graphic view into her suffering from this disease, as well as a candid insight into her family's reaction to her plight. I too was raised by a strong-willed father and a sweet mother and Corina can certainly attest to the confusion one feels as a very young child. It was always quite different for my brother and I have always known that his childhood memories were not the same as mine. Such things continue to impact us as we grow, as we engage in relationships, and as we love. I wish you the best with Ryan and that your heart is home at last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting perspective, July 28, 2010

I have been a tennis fan for many years. Morariu's story illustrates life of many post-cancer survivors that I have never imagined. I understand where she came from. She was lucky to be alive and I hope her story, in somewhat, inspires many people to fight for what everyone is looking for--peace within ourselves.

I also read Monica Seles's book and came to the conclusion that if you " let it go", you will find peace within yourself.
