5.0 out of 5 stars See why Liza Live is the greatest!
Liza Minnelli's concerts are always an incredible showcase of her talents. Having seen her many times onstage, I think this concert is one of her all-time best. A highly imaginative and original show with great material and Liza in peak form.Watch the singing actress at work in SORRY I ASKED or QUIET LOVE and with all the women dancers in STEPPING OUT(where's the DVD of...

3.0 out of 5 stars STREISAND MOVE OVER...LIZA'S HERE! (5) STARS
Unbelievable. This is the third of Liza's Concerts on DVD
that I have seen. And I feel so luky to understand what
made "LIZA" an ICON, but in the last few years considered
more of a joke. But if you view "LIZA WITH A Z" and
"AZNAVOUR/MINNELLI" and now "Live from Radio City Music
Hall," which is practically a brand new show will see a top...

This show makes one wish for DVD releases of her first HBO concert from 1979(once on video) and her second one from London(1985..never on video) not to mention her other TV specials.

5.0 out of 5 stars LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE~BRAVO LIZA MINNELLI !!!, November 23, 2006

Like her legendary mother, nobody around today takes command of the stage like Liza Minnelli and this legendary event at New York's Radio City Music Hall clearly illustrates this...always a five star event in concert, I have been fortunate to experience this thrilling and amazing performer numerous times in concert from 1970 to 2005 and I am here to say that she has still got it and always will!!! In recent years for some silly reason that I don't get, the media has tried to damage Liza's artistic credibility but it doesn't work when Liza takes to the stage and shows sold out audiences with her soulful singing and great performing skills what she is all about and that she is and always will be a true legendary Superstar...numerous standing ovations later it is clear that Liza is going to be around for a long time to come and this tremendous concert is a keeper...BRAVO Liza and keep on rocking!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest entertainer of our generation, June 18, 2000
By
Bob Waskiewicz (Wintersville, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
Even if your not a Liza Minnelli fan,you will be amazed at this Women when you watch this tape from Liza's sold out tour in 1992. From "Teach me tonight" to,"New York,New York."Liza is fantastic. I love Sara Lee," its so funny, but when the second act starts, and Liza's Demon Diva's take over, the fun begins. Every type of Diva is in this number, from the very young,to a lady who must be in her late 70's. There all great, and when Liza sings"Natural Man," from her 1974 album,"Liza,Live at the Winter Garden," Liza brings down the house. I think this concert is the reason Liza had all her hip trouble afterwards. The tap dancing is wonderfull, but it had to put alot of strain on her joints, but that's Liza, always giving us the best she can.The early 90's was a great time for Liza. She had a Gold album,"Results." This concert was breaking all records, and she made a fantastic film,"Stepping out," that should have been one of the top movies of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Liza at her best!, January 21, 1999
By A Customer
If we had to choose one show that could resume the escence of Ms. Minelli's unique talent, this Radio City Music Hall show could be the one. She's seen in the top of her wonderful capacity to dazzle audiences, showing us what "star quality" means. The concert features Liza's best known numbers, cabaret songs, a big tap number at the end and a special tribute to her friend Bob Fosse. Liza is supported by an ensemble of multi-talented female performers, who give the show incredible power.

Don't miss the opportunity to see one of the world's most talented and charismatic performers. Liza Minelli is the great lady of the musical theatre world. The one who everyone in show bussiness loves, because she teaches us what Broadway is all about. This video is no exception to that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Millions of Stars for Minnelli the Magnificent, October 5, 2006

This concert took place shortly before Liza's health started to rapidly decline. It looks as if she wanted to leave a final testimony of what she could achieve while she was still at the top of her game. This should be a must-see for anyone pursuing a career in the performing arts.

And what a testimony this one is! If you thought Liza with a "Z" was great, you'll love this one. Liza took EVERTHING to the highest level of performance. The singing. The acting. The dancing. I was lucky to see this in person and there was a dance at the beginning of the concert (not included in any version) where Liza was the most beautiful, talented and graceful performer I had seen, or will ever see again, on stage. Her total control of her movements and her technique were flawless. A dubbed version of Losing my Mind is also missing from this DVD.

The only thing missing that I do not miss is the white modest blouse that covered the white outfit in the first act. It did nothing for Liza. Thank God it's gone!!!

I was going to mention the highlights of the show, but each song is a highlight!!! So I'll just mention my favorite song: Here I'll Stay/Our Love is Here to Stay. Minnelli is simply brilliant and totally believable. I get goose bumps every time I hear this song.

The packaging is similar to the Laser Disc, VHS and the CD released at the time. The visual quality is superb and the sound is perfect. They even solved a couple of problems from the Laser Disc/VHS versions. One of them was the synchronization between the image and the sound during the final verses of Seeing Things. The other one is the transition from Liza's recorded voice into her "live" voice at the beginning of Here I'll Stay/Our Love is Here to Stay (The "We've" on "We've got something permanent").

Be advised that there are NO extras in this DVD. Just Liza. But somehow, that's more than enough.

Buy this DVD TODAY, before it disappears for 30 years like Liza with a "Z" did.

5.0 out of 5 stars An A+ For "Liza With A 'Z'"!, February 13, 2003
Liza Minnelli's recent vocal and physical problems seem to have made real skeptics out of some former admirers. It's good to have this video on hand to show doubters what Liza was (and maybe still is?) capable of at her best. Liza was still in top form in the early 90s as this concert footage shows. Sure her voice is getting a little huskier by this point, but she can put over a song--just about any song--like nobody's business. And as others have often pointed out, her overall stage presence, her polished "acting out" of the songs and the intros, and her elaborate choreography make for a whole package. Whether it's a sensitive quiet version of an Aznavour classic--on which she "signs" along with the music, to powerful effect--or a brassy "Some People" (ah, would that she had had the chance to play Mama Rose onstage or screen!), it's a great, well thought-out and balanced production. Her dance numbers--backed by her "demon divas," a group of talented women of all ages and sizes (what a concept! real people!)--are brilliantly choreographed and performed. This is, as they say, hugely entertaining. Liza Minelli has always been a talent to be reckoned with. It is unfortunate that she has been beset by troubles in recent years, but if people want an idea of what she's capable of and why she is so loved and respected, this video (which will hopefully be available on DVD soon as well) is a great place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Liza's legacy, her talent, January 24, 2007

This review is from: Liza Minnelli: Live from Radio City Music Hall (DVD)
Liza gave an outstanding performance and her vocals were amazing. This was a concert of a lifetime Live from Radio City Music Hall.
The undeniable and magic conection Liza had with the audience was another sign of her great talent as a performer and singer. I am a huge fan of hers and her mother Judy Garland and I think Liza is one of the best performers in the music industry after her mother.
I have never seen a performer that fits right in with her audience like Liza did in this live concert. Her interaction with the people was just wonderful. She was born to sing and perform.
The New York, New York song was a winner in this concert. Liza's versatility to work with every song was superb and her more mature voice gave the audience the opportunity to have a real taste of talent. I only wished I was there to see her perform.

If you're a fan of Liza, you must have this video as part of your collection. I bought the cd of this concert and listen to it often, but actually seeing her perform, even if just on video, is so much better. She is such a talented and incredible performer, giving 110% in every song. Buy this video, it is sooo worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars LIZA A TRUE DIVA!, February 6, 2001
By
Nicole (San Diego, CA United States) - See all my reviews
For any of you people that consider Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to be divas, but if it weren't for people like Liza Minnelli there wouldn't be such a term as diva. She is a perfect definition of what a diva is. She has successfully conquered both the acting and music world. She can sing, dance and is so beautiful. This video recorded live from her Radio City Music Hall performance is absolutely breathtaking it captures everything from that memorable performance: every dance move, every laugh, every note. I was blown away with how wonderful a live show Liza puts on. The songs she sang were creative, inspiring and touching, the girls dancing with her were such talented dancers, and the costumes they wore were so gorgeous. Liza gives such a great live performance, she has never lip synched onstage like some of today's female pop artists. Girls like that could learn from women like Liza and Liza is the best!

To the point :
For all the would-be-actress, this is a tape you MUST have. Just study how Liza performs, her timing in everything is so perfect! As one of the reviewers observed: Liza is 'the perfect definition' of what a diva should be. Everything she does in this show is so well rehearsed; yet it appears so effortless! This is the true mark of a legend. I never liked the song 'Imagine' until I heard Liza's rendition of it.
