About the Author

J. Robert Whittle was born in Yorkshire, England, thus writing of his beloved homeland and the ordinary folk who helped shape his own fascinating life, comes as second nature to him. At 19, he received his Mining Engineering Degree from Leeds University and as an international expert in his field, he travelled widely. Personal experience, empathy for the young or less fortunate, a knowledge of international business, a keen ear for dialects, and a natural ability to entertain, has again provided Whittle with all the necessary prerequisites enabling him to once again weave a spell-binding, 'can't put it down' story.

Emigrating to Canada in 1971, Whittle and his Canadian-born wife, live in Victoria, Canada.

More About the Author

I was born in Yorkshire, England on June 10, 1933. An entrepreneur from an early age, I wasn't to know that this was merely preparing me for writing novels and marketing my own books in later life. I played professional cricket while attending Leeds University and become a mining engineer where I led a first-response to disaster team for 12 years for the British Coal Board. By 1963, following many serious accidents, I moved to Australia, and later, to Canada where I worked for the Canadian Government in the Arctic for two years.

In 1971, I moved in Victoria BC. Many years later while recuperating from knee surgery on an old mining injury, I discovered how much I enjoyed writing. In 1998, my wife Joyce Sandilands, published "Lizzie: Lethal Innocence" which became my first bestselling novel. By 2010, we had become well-known in the book industry as the Canadian couple who wrote, indie-published, and sold their books at local farmer's markets and craft shows. My 3 bestselling novels are "Lizzie: Lethal Innocence", "Bound by Loyalty" and "Loyalty's Reward" part of the 4-book Lizzie Series and Victoria Chronicles Trilogy, all historical novels. Joyce and I have also co-written 2 novels and a book of short stories.

This is the second book in the Lizzie Series. J. Robert Whittle continues to weave a web of intrigue as Lizzie continues to change the lives of everyone in Dockland. I couldn't put it down!!

What a heartwarming story of the "angels". I look forward to hearing more about them in future books. Mr. Whittle has a wonderful knack for keeping we readers enthralled and feeling like we are part of the story alongside the character. I can't wait to see what adventures Lizzie will have next. Such an inspirational character. I sure wish I had had her spunk when I was young! I heartily recommend this series for younger readers as well as we discerning adults. Mr. Whittle writes with such an old-fashioned style, one would think he had been writing all his life. Congratulations on another excellent book, Mr. Whittle.
