PreSchool-Grade 3. Beginning with sprightly music, this Spanish-language translation of Pat Hutchins' book (Greenwillow, 1986) is fairly faithful to the original. It is the story of a multiethnic group of children dividing a dozen cookies in different ways as more and more children arrive at the door. There are obvious math curriculum applications, but the story is also good literature. One side of the tape contains page-turn signals, the other does not. All instructions are given in Spanish. The female narrator has a clear, crisp voice, although it is somewhat lacking in expression. The only sound effect is the doorbell ringing. Audio quality is good. This is a perfect way to introduce third grade students to the mystery of division! Interactive, repetition, and ever-changing math problems; this book just begs to be used as a connection with the math class!!
