About the Author

Marty McGee graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in animal behavior. She has been actively involved in the llama and alpaca community since 1981. She is a hand spinner, knitter and weaver, and became interested in llamas and alpacas because of their fiber. Marty continues to be a featured speaker at major llama and alpaca gatherings around the world and writes regularly for Llamas magazine, Alpacas magazine and numerous international newsletters.

Marty McGee Bennett's first llama jumped off the back of a pickup truck and into her heart in 1981. Since then Marty has devoted her professional life to the well being of llamas and alpacas and the education of camelid enthusiasts. Marty brings a variety of experience and qualifications to her work with camelids, including a B.S. degree in Animal Behavior. Marty's combination of TTEAM (the work developed by Linda Tellington-Jones), with the principals of balance and leverage and a second sense with both camelids and people make "Camelidynamics" the world's most popular, and enduring training/handling system for camelids.
Her clinics, books and videos have helped thousands of llama and alpaca owners more fully understand, appreciate and enjoy this magical animal. Marty's most book "The Camelid Companion" published in 2001 has received rave reviews in publications worldwide. Conducting hundreds of clinics in North America and around the world have kept Marty on the road for much of the past 25 years. Why waste words when pictures say so many. Just turning the pages of this book gives you a warm and wonderful feeling about alpacas and llamas. A desire to touch one because they look so adorable.

I have three holiday cottages and in each I have a copy of this book on the coffee tables. Every week my guests tell me what a lovely book it is and how their children love to look at the photos. They then ask me if I will show them my own alpacas and llamas for real. As we walk around the fields they ask informed questions which they formulated from reading the copy of 'Llamas and Alpacas as a Metaphor for Life'. The feel of them then becomes a reality.

I think it is a lovely book and just the right size for anyones' home. I also think that it is good value, especially with its fascination and appeal for the animals and the excellent photography which must cost a bomb. Well done Marty.

You don't have to be a lama lover to love this book. The book is full of lessons for life. "Always ignore geese". If you'er feeling down, read this book. You will smile before you put it down. You will pick this book up time and again! A great gift to special friends. Very uplifting!
