3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't impressed
Was pretty dissapointed in this book, kind of a waste of money IMO, I would not buy it again, nor will I when the new issue comes out. Wasn't anything there that I could not either get from my other books, or from the web for that matter.

I personally think it is a waste of MY money anyhow. It has some info in it, but nothing like what I expected or wanted. And just...

This review is from: Llewellyn's 2002 Magical Almanac (Paperback)
I absolutely adore this little "book" and look forward to it every new year. It is chock full of little tidbits and lore that is an absolute delight to peruse with its graphics that are detailed and lovely.

This almanac is more diverse with its cultures and spiritual affiliations than any other; in other words, it concentrates on more religions than just the goddess ones. You can find a different holiday for every day, some in Sweden, some from England -- it's educational and facinating to learn new tidbits.

Also along with the daily holidays, it gives the usual information on moon phase, astrological positions and tips on how to utilize this information to the fullest. Ever wonder if your little love spell is good on Friday? This tells you if it is and when it will be at its strongest.

Along with the daily information, the book is chock-full of history lessons, spells, herbal infusions (topical or consumable) and magical information in general. I found great cookie recipies for my Summer Solstice party that was not only tasty but reflected the occasion along with some iced Strawberry Mint tea that was just a hit.

I highly recommend this almanac if you've been looking everywhere for tips and information on magic and the craft in general. They not only offer your basic information, but contribute great ideas from other cultures and religions as well as history lessons from ancient Pagan pasts. A must for the serious practitioner.

The almanac has many stories and lores about wiccan tradition.
The months are full of information about the moon cicles, when to plant or not. Has spells. It is very usefull for those who like the pagan tradition. The information isvery interesting. You can keep it after 2002.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of different info!, March 4, 2002

This review is from: Llewellyn's 2002 Magical Almanac (Paperback)
I haven't yet finished all of the articles but this is full of many different articles that are helpful for anybody at any level! Many different authors and collaborators make this book a very well rounded source of info. If you are looking for when the next Full moon is going to come, this book will tell ya. If you want to know a little more about herbs, this book as an article about some. Interested in Green Man Tarot, there is an article about that. So much info I can't remember all of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference!, December 23, 2001
By
This review is from: Llewellyn's 2002 Magical Almanac (Paperback)
Llewellyn's 2002 Magical Almanac is another great reference book for that special Witch. Daily correspondences for the magical worker, including moon phases and quarters, colors, moons signs and suggested incense on the calendar part of the book. Many interesting articles including those written by Edain McCoy, Dr. Leo Martello, Ann Moura, Raven Grimassi, and others referencing magic in all its various shapes and forms as well as the different seasons of the year. One that caught my eye, "Owl Medicine" by Marguerite Elsbeth, contains many Owl facts and myths. Again, this is chock full of interesting reading, well worth the price as a birthday gift or a Yule gift for yourself or for others as well.

I personally think it is a waste of MY money anyhow. It has some info in it, but nothing like what I expected or wanted. And just not enough information for daily life as a pagan either..

3.0 out of 5 stars Neat read, April 19, 2002
By
Kitty "Kitty" (Milford, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Llewellyn's 2002 Magical Almanac (Paperback)
This was my first year buying this almanac. It wasn't bad but I guess I really enjoy The Witche's Almanac much more than this for it's ease to use. I use my almanac for getting ready to do spells and rituals and even planting and cleaning the house in a magical manner and this book is just not easy for me to pick up and get the info I need for that. But I did find all the articles in there rather interesting and fun to read. So that made it worth the purchase. I would like to see more and better info for teens than just the same basic stuff that is in there. As a mother of a teen witch this just didn't cut the mustard with either of us. The parenting articles lacked to. This will be my summer don't have anything to read in the yard book for sure.
