a must-have for any witch !, August 2, 2007
This review is from: Llewellyn's 2008 Witches' Datebook (Annuals - Witches' Datebook) (Spiral-bound)
If you're not acquainted with these Datebooks, you really should be. I honestly wonder how I ever got along without one of these before (perhaps by intuition?) They are small, but sure pack a magickal whallop.
Incorporate this book into your magickal practice to add extra power to your spells by knowing when the moon is in each sign, when it is void-of-course (which is not a good time to do spells) and advice for that day from the assortment of authors that contributed to the Datebook.
There are wonderful stories within that can add a bit of humor and inspiration to your day, along with recipes and spells for any occasion, especially for the full moons and sabbats.
This is a must-have for every witch, and you really do get your money's worth for the price as well.

A Wonderful & Very Useful Traveling Companion, December 16, 2007
This review is from: Llewellyn's 2008 Witches' Datebook (Annuals - Witches' Datebook) (Spiral-bound)
With each new year, I enjoy getting a copy of the newest Witches' Datebook from Llewellyn Publications. And, as is often the case, the 2008 datebook is brimming with lots of very useful information. Like its wall-calendar cousin ("Llewellyn's Witches' Calendar 2008"), the datebook lists all eight of the Wiccan/Pagan holidays (Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lammas, Mabon, Samhain and Yule) as well as all significant Christian holidays, Jewish holidays, Muslim holidays and the civil holidays for several countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico. It also lists all significant moon phases (new, waxing quarter, full, waning quarter and void-of-course) as well as significant planetary movements between the twelve constellations of the zodiac, including whether the movement is retrograde. It also lists the particular color associated with each day. An appendix at the end of the datebook contains a list of daily magical influences, color correspondences, lunar phases, moon signs, eclipses for 2008, all 2008 full moons, planetary retrogrades and a moon void-of-course table.
Articles contained at the beginning of the datebook include the following:
* "Magical Clothing" by Abby Willowroot.
* "The Sacred Flame" by Diana Rajchel.
* "An Astrological Look at 2008" by K.D. Spitzer.
* "Faery Magic: Best Times, Places" by Ellen Dugan.
* "Create and Use Thoughtforms" by Gerina Dunwich.
A number of poems by Elizabeth Barrette that are contained throughout the datebook include:
* "The Craft of the Wise", p. 31.
* "The Wand", p. 41.
* "The Watchtower of the East", p. 47.
* "The Maiden Goddess", p. 57.
* "The Athame", p. 67.
* "The Mother Goddess", p. 71.
* "The Watchtower of the South", p. 83.
* "The God", p. 95.
* "The Chalice", p. 99.
* "Watchtower of the West", p. 107.
* "The Pentacle", p. 121.
* "The Crone Goddess", p. 125.
* "Watchtower of the North", p. 133.
Short articles written by Emily Flak about holidays include:
* "Imbolc", pg. 37.
* "Ostara", pg. 53.
* "Beltane", pg. 63.
* "Summer Solstice", pg. 79.
* "Lughnasadh", pg. 89.
* "Mabon", pg. 105.
* "Samhain", pg. 115.
* "Yule", pg. 129.
Short articles written by Magenta Griffith about various full moons include:
* "Leo Moon", p. 35.
* "Virgo Moon", p. 43.
* "Libra Moon", pg. 51.
* "Scorpio Moon", pg. 59.
* "Scorpio Moon Redux", p. 69.

* "Harvest Moon (in Pisces)", p. 103.
* "Aries Moon", p. 111.

* "Gemini Moon", p. 127.
The datebook also contains an assortment of seasonal recipes written by Dallas Jennifer Cobb that include:
* "Imbolc Cleansing Curry", p. 33.
* "Spring Equinox Easy Truffles", p. 49.
* "Beltane Passion Cookies", p. 61.
* "Celebration Slush", p. 75.
* "Lammas Latkes", p. 87.
* "Autumn Equinox Stew", p. 101.
* "Samhain Spiders", p. 113.
* "Yule Cranberry Cookies", p. 131.
The datebook's compact size and lightweight allows it to be carried with ease in any briefcase, backpack, shoulder bag or purse so that it can be a wonderful traveling companion. There is ample space on each calendar date to write appointments or other important information. There are also a few blank address book pages at the end of the datebook. Overall, I rate "Llewellyn's Witches' Datebook 2008" with 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it.
