Weird Paul Petroskey is one good lookin' S.O.B. But more importantly, he writes the damn catchiest songs. Paul began releasing his own cassettes in the late 80's. In 1991, Homestead Records released "Lo Fidelity, Hi Anxiety", Paul's now hard to find cult classic CD. Since then, Paul is back to releasing… Read more in Amazon's Weird Paul Petroskey Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Weird Indeed, August 6, 2002
This review is from: Lo Fidelity Hi Anxiety (Audio CD)
A great album if you come from Pittsburgh or like the band Ween. Maybe if you like They Might be Giants - but that's a stretch. Weird Paul is a cool mixture of everything that was good and bad about lo-fi rock of the nineties. However, his song about Scott Baio is a classic in its own right and it worth buying the album for. If Paul and Manny ever got it together to make another album, it would most certainly go platinum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Post-Modernist Manifesto, July 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lo Fidelity Hi Anxiety (Audio CD)
Paul Petroskey, the master of post-modern landscapes, has struck pure gold once again with his simply amazing new album. The title, a study of the horrors inherrent in the polarity of our failed and flawed technologies and the chaos which these weaknesses wreck in our lives, is just one of the thousands brilliant metaphors liberally laced throughout this work.

Channelling the energies of Marshall McLuhan's "The Medium is the Massage" into audio format, then twisting them subtly with Nietzche's concept of the "Ubermensch", Petroskey strikes a sharp chord, one so fierce in it's intensity, that the government has banned this album from radio play in hopes to stave off the inevitable revolution that would undoubtably unfold if only more knew of the power of this disk.

Dreaded Glaucoma Test, indeed. Bravo, Weird Paul.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Fun, Catchy Songs!, March 27, 2001

Paunch (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lo Fidelity Hi Anxiety (Audio CD)
This album is awesome! Weird Paul is awesome! Some of the best songs I've ever heard. Really. Check out "My Head's on Fire," "Acting Like Mel Tourme," "Feeding Squirrels Fire," "What I'm Gonna Do to You"...heck, they're all good! The songs are simple, catchy, fun, and in most cases, true. If you're expecting a big, over-blown, high-budget, fake-sounding, cheesily-produced Van Halen or Aerosmith album, then forget it. If not, then do yourself a favor and purchase what is one of the best, most fun albums of the '90's!
