5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Hard Rock!!!
Somewhere between Revis and Shinedown on the "heaviness" scale, you will find Lo-Pro. This band encorporates some suprisingly intense riffing with almost-elegant vocal phrasing. Very well-written songs from beginning to end! Check out the sound samples and see for yourself: This is a must purchase!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good sounds, mediocre music
Although the debut album from Lo-Pro, touted as the first band signed to Aaron Lewis' fledgling label, packs a punch from a recording point of view, the monotony of the music when the listener gets beyond the opening track "Fuel" and the first single "Sunday" falls flat as the songwriting pattern grinds over and over again. From a tonal aspect,...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites!, November 3, 2003

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lo-Pro (Audio CD)
I was just able to catch Lo-Pro live in Austin, TX yesterday and they are more incredible live than on CD - which is saying a lot because I can't get enough of this CD. Since purchasing it on its release date, this album has been in constant rotation in my car.

Lo-Pro's debut CD has a nice blend of hard and heavy hitting songs with a few mellow, down tempo songs thrown in. For the most part, it is rockin' guitar with Pete's incredibly emotional vocals layered across the top. It isn't angry for the sake of being angry or full of cuss words just for the sake of saying them, it is real and honest music.

The album begins with "Fuel" which is one of my favorites on the album - being one of the heavier songs, it gets the album started off with a crunchy guitar sound. Another of my favorites on the album are the first single, "Sunday," which includes some of my favorite lyrics on the album ("I hacked myself to bits for you again..."). The song "Thread" features melodic guitars and incredible vocals (Pete can sing - not just scream, though he does a fair bit of that too). The album finishes on a more mellow note with "Bombz," which is another of my top picks on the album - the drums providing a steady backdrop for acoustic and electric guitars with layered vocal harmonies.

This first CD leaves me wanting more! Its distinctive melodies and catchy hooks will have you singing "Sunday" every day of the week.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just a great sound and not in the mainstream, March 12, 2005
This review is from: Lo-Pro (Audio CD)
Probably the best unheard of album in the genre. Feels like Sunday is a 10 out of 10. A million ways to feel nothing is a solid song as well. This group deserved more attention than they got, but that is the business. This is worth paying full price, much less landing it at a sale price. I bought mine for $1, and would have given $14 new for it had I known how good it was.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, January 1, 2005

Lo-Pro's 2003 debut...debut as Lo-Pro that is, is without a doubt a tightly knit, concrete album. As many others have stated, Lo-Pro formed from the ashes of Ultraspank, Snot, and many other bands. This collaboration worked very well in my opinion. There is not a single track on this album that is "bad." If i HAD to pick a worst track, (and believe me I'm forcing myself) I'd have to say Sunday...the fan favorite. It's not bad, it's just not as good as all the other tracks. My favorite tracks on the album are "Reach, Walk Away, Thread, Oblivion, Ignition(my favorite), Fake, and Bombz. Pretty much the whole album huh? As aforementioned, it is very difficult to choose a favorite. One side note, I think there is a different version of "Ignition," because when i downloaded the CD originally, the version i got was different then when i went out and bought the actual CD. I still have both versions. Anyways, Pete Murray ties the whole piece of music together IMO, and I hope Lo-Pro will find the "right label" and sign and get their newly recorded music out soon...really soon....please don't break up....that would suck.....totally....preeeeeow.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best I've heard in a while, April 6, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Lo-Pro (Audio CD)
It's been a long time since I've heard anything good on the radio, but Lo-pro's first single, Sunday, changed that for me.

There is nothing at all spectacular about the guitar, bass or drums - they are servicable, but basically just standard rock riffs. Good for grooving, but they shouldn't win any awards.

The real gem here is vocalist Pete Murray. His phrasing is positively addictive. I can't stop listening to this album because of it.

The dissonant transition to the chorus in "Fake" is so garish that I usually skip the song. But every other song just gets better them more you listen, which I assume I will be doing constantly for the next few months.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lo Pro = Ultraspank lite, October 2, 2003

This review is from: Lo-Pro (Audio CD)
As I am sure most everyone will mention in their review, Lo Pro is made up of some former memebers of Ultraspank (singer & guitarist). While vocally this CD sounds very close to Ultraspank, the similarities really end there. Lo Pro is more of a hard rock band and doesn't have any of the driving, aggressive metal elements that defined Ultraspank. This is really the only thing that bothered me a little about Lo Pro because Ultraspank was a fantastic band, but then again they are not the same band. Lo Pro focuses much more only melody as is the style w/ hard rock bands nowadays. While this CD probably won't be considered the very best rock album around, it is certainly very good, and Lo Pro have shown that they should be considered among the elite in modern hard rock (above Stone Sour at least).

Anyway, the Amazon samples give you a good idea of what their sound is like. They also have full-length songs on their website. The best track without a doubt is "Sunday", but there are many other good ones here as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid good album but not heavy, February 15, 2006

Strange how you hear the same crap on the radio every hour, but bands like this do not get any play. It's like they didn't even get a chance. Yea "Sunday" isn't the greatest song in the world, but it's better than a lot of stuff on radio! Anyway. Beinging to end it is a good album, the corses can be a bit repeating. Howevr if looking for good rock cd, this is a safe bet. But don't expect metal or heavy riffs. In comparason to Ultraspank its not close. But if you have a soul at all you shouldn't be let down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pete gets all 4, March 15, 2005
This review is from: Lo-Pro (Audio CD)
I've been a huge fan of Ultraspank ever since playing that Extreme sports game(I forget the name) for playstation years ago. It really broke my spirit to hear that they broke up after releasing their second album. The music was rhythmic and driving, leading you along with great singing and blasting in your face when Pete screamed. They had true energy.
Hearing of this new band which has members of Snot and Godsmack, also awesome groups, I was very excited. Pete is amazing as usual, but it's a shame that the rest of the band didn't pull through on their end. I find it hard to differentiate between the percussion on each track, the drummer is just boring. The guitar needs a lot more diversity, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars When and where's their follow-up CD?, February 28, 2005

This review is from: Lo-Pro (Audio CD)
I was astounded when I heard Lo-Pro for the first time. I was listening to LaunchCast radio at work and I had no idea who the artist was, but I made a point of writing it down later to download at home. The song was "Sunday." And that was my introduction to Lo-Pro. In my opinion, this band is one of THE best I've ever heard! There are too few artists whose music can leave me feeling virtually out of breath just from listening to their songs, but Lo-Pro has done just that. The music is intense and perfect, the vocals and harmony are flawless, especially the lungs on lead singer Pete Murray. WOW, that guy just blows me away. The songs are all original and the band has a sound all their own. I've listened to just about every alt rock and hard rock band that's ever been around and these guys rise above any and all levels of distinction; no other band is comparable to Lo-Pro, not in my book anyway. I can only wonder why they haven't had more recognition and I hope they will decide to release another CD. We would all be missing out on a great and talented group of guys if that turns out not to be the case in the near future. I will gladly hold on to the CD they released in 2003 for comfort!
