5.0 out of 5 stars a breath of creativity in a stale genre, October 6, 1999

Yo people...This is Brotha Lynch's 3rd solo album and it is by far the best. This album is an instant classic and DEFINITELY worth picking up if you can find it. From the completely helter skelter ramblings of FIRST DEGREE, to the old school gangsta style of ICE-T, Loaded's guest appearances are just the right ingredient to balance the uncut raw dope Lynch spits on every tracc.Rap purists HATE this album.Creative minds LOVE it.It is definitely one of my top 5 albums of all time and proves that Brotha Lynch is one of the most underrated, slept on, musical geniuses of our era. My final comment:if you appreciate innovation and think that hardcore rap is going in a monotonous direction, ride at night while playing this cd and with every chill that goes down your spine, remember that music is not something you listen to but something you FEEL.

As far as Brotha Lynch is concerned, I have nothing but praise. This is especially true when I listen to this album. I've read reviews stating that he's not like other, more mainstreamed artists, and I do agree with that. This, among other things, is exactly the reason people should check out Loaded and his other, just as provocative, albums (Season of the Siccness and 24 Deep). Too often artists set out to imitate others because they feel this is the approach to longetivity and this approach leaves so many of them at wayside, victims of commercially manufactured stereotypes. That's where Lynch stands out.
Listening to him use of not only "horror" culture (Die; 1 by 1), but also effects that give him an almost schitzophrenic feeling (Situation and briefly on That's What I Said), attest to his unique skills. Coupling this with his the repeated mention of cannibalism, the occasional meathook, craftworks envolving razorblades (Feel my Nature Rise), and his calmer, yet strangely castchy, "elevation" shout-out (On my briefcase), and you've got something everyone needs...

5.0 out of 5 stars Friggin' Brilliant., February 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Loaded (Audio CD)
This album took me a couple of listenings before I could see where Lynch was going. His style has definitely changed since "Season...". But this album has a depth that the last album lacked, and the guest appearances are much more involved. In fact there are a ton of great cameos (Cokane, E-40, Twamp Dog, Polo, etc.), but the standout here is an amazing set of performances by First Degree, who collaborates on virtually every track. This guy is a virtuoso rapper, and I'd never even heard of him before. Check out "Heatas" and the first verse of "Secondz A Way" to see what I mean-- if this guy's not the next rap superstar-in-the-making, then I don't understand this music. All in all, a stellar release by Brotha Lynch, a genius in his own right who is never easily upstaged. Easily the most impressive and versatile rap album of 1997, and while it's not as ferociously in-your-face as "Season", you're going to find yourself playing it constantly.
