Product Description

The Loc-Line coolant hose assembly pliers are made of blue acetal copolymer plastic, and are for assembly and disassembly of Loc-Line modular coolant hose. The acetal copolymer plastic resists corrosion and moisture, and helps reduce the risk of damage to Loc-Line hose during work. The material complies with Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) and Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) international directives for hazardous materials.

Lockwood Products manufactures the Loc-Line modular hose system of low-pressure hose and couplings used for coolant, air delivery, smoke and dust removal, and other applications. The company, founded in 1981, is headquartered in Lake Oswego, OR.

When putting together a Loc-Line system of any sort, for coolant delivery, air, an aquarium, or whatever, snapping the pieces together is very crucial. With the 1/2" and larger Loc-Line system you can get away without using the assembly pliers (it requires a lot of brute force, but it's doable), but with the 1/4" system it is nearly impossible to do without these pliers.

Literally within a few minutes with these pliers you can have your Loc-Line system snapped together and ready to go. Using these pliers also insures that the individual modules don't get damaged during installation, which can cause leaks or premature failure.

Hands down, if you are working with the 1/4" Loc-Line system, save yourself a lot of time, effort, and hurt fingers and hands and buy these. Yeah you'll more then likely only use them a few minutes and never use them again, but they are oh so very handy for those few minutes of use.

Pros:
Makes using and installing Loc-Line module hose systems a snap.

Cons:
Kinda spendy.

If you are doing anything with loc line, this is a must.
Its nearly impossible to mate or disconnect loc line hoses or attachments without it.
The pliers are constructed with thick plastic and feel very sturdy.
You do have to use some force to mate or disconnect connections but after doing it a few times, its easy.

I use linelock fittings for my aquarium, and in the past had always just snapped the pieces together by hand. I felt like becomming a professional today and buy the actual pliers. To my surprise the pliers don't have any function to separate 2 pieces? I may be wrong, but it looks like these things will only connect 2 pieces, and you have to pull them apart by hand.

For aquarium grade (black) line lock fittings, I don't think the pliers are necessary. I'm assuming the coolant line fittings fit more tightly and such. But if you just use this stuff for aquariums, I wouldn't bother buying a set of these pliers.

These were sure the $12 spent on them. They make connecting the Loc-Line segments together so easy. I remember the good old days trying to push them together with your hands, forget that, buy these pliers. If you use these for coolant you that every once in a while you try to move the Loc-Line hose just a little too far and pop. The hose came a part. Keep one of these pliers on your cart and you can just snap the segments right back together.

I got some loc-line to make a third hand++ (see instructables) and loc-line is very hard to get them together. One set of the loc-line came in one day (despite using the amazon prime 2 day shipping!!!) so I was playing with it before these arrived the next day and they are a real PITA to get together without. With the pliers, it's really easy.

Sure, you may only use it a couple of times but it's totally worth it.

Yup title says it all. Yes you can assemble and disassemble loc-line without these pliers, but WHY? These make it so easy, and quick. No need to worry about fingers, slippage, and parts flying all over the place. The 1/4" line pieces are pretty small and really hard to grip properly. These bad boys work perfectly on that smaller line.

A must have when using loc-line hose/fitting products.. without these, I can not image assembling the pieces.. although it can be done as noted elsewhere on the web, I didn't want to mess around

a little tricky at first figuring out which way up.. they really should have put an icon on one end or something
