First time exposure., December 12, 1999
This review is from: Local Area Networks, An Introduction to the Technology (Paperback)
I have reviewed other text in the past for a book that reviews the introduction of networking and what's involved.
I thought this book provided the information and introduction of the industry. I'm teaching a class to first time students and this book is a springboard introducing network and internet principles.
Another reason I liked the book because of the references of other books it recommeded reading. Referecned books are books I've read and are used for engineering with respect to the industry.
Downside: Chapters are lite in reading. Some of the chapters could use a bit more information on some subjects. Information lite.
There are better introduction books but for cost and exposure, would not waste time.
Overall: If you need an initial exposure to what lan and internet is about and some basic principles, this is a good book.
