If you're reading this, you probably already own it. If not, July 30, 2002

If you happen to be reading this before buying read on...... Yes there have been some references to Neil Young, most obvious on the first song, "Letdown". And the Byrds, ( I don't get that one)and considered a form of powerpop as you normally would find on the excellent NotLame label. This is just a fine collection of tunes by a fella named Tam Johnstone under the band name of The General Store. It does have a SoCal/countryfied whatever feel, but this is just one great album. The only bummer being a slow countryish version of the Thompson Twins, Hold Me Now. Never was a good song and even though it's a valiant effort, it pales greatly in comparison with Tam's own material. Airport Breakfast is vaguely built around a somewhat Stonesy "The Last Time" riff but takes off on it's own from there. The standouts are "Pretty Eyes", "Coming Down" and the awesome "Stay". If you don't already have it you need to check it out. As music like this goes it will probably be one of the best albums never heard.
