It would be tough to make the concept work as well for bigger destinations, but Jackson Lindsay's travel guides, including "Best of Isla Mujeres", "Best of Cozumel" and "Best of Playa Del Carmen" are handy-dandy for jaunts to those sections of Mexico. About 4x6 inches and so easy to tuck into a pocket, they are quick references (with Lindsay's very pointed opinions) for dining, activities, shopping, transportation, nightlife and services, with tiny maps and about a paragraph each for the entries. But within these briefs are all you need to know. --The Denver Post

(Same thoughts as the book on Playa) Seams to hit all the key points about the place that get passed over in the bigger travel books. After reading it im ready to head south after landing in Cancun. Book does just what it claims to do, alot of good info in there to where to get the best food, best drinks, shopping and have the best time. Glad i bought it, hope things calm down in Mexico so i can go back there in 2010 i hope and bring my kids this time.

It is a small book, but this is a small island. We had five nights in Cozumel, and didn't run out of great places to try. The author has a website where he lists closures and changes, so don't worry about the 2006 publication date. I believe that using this guidebook helped make our vacation better and cheaper than it would have been otherwise. In general, hotels are not listed, but everything else is!

This is a great guide and worth every penny! My family just got back from a Cozumel vacation Nov 21 - Nov 30, 2008 and found this guide to be a great planning asset. We didn't leave the hotel without it because it either fit into my shorts pocket or into my wife's purse. We used it everyday to help us plan our daily activities, as well as, our breakfast, lunch and dinner plans. The guide was published late in 2006 (after the hurricane) and is still very accurate, we only found 2 places that had either closed or changed names. The guide is presented as a "Best Of" list from everything from best dinning, best shopping, to the best beaches, and the descriptions are detailed and accurate. The guide never steered us wrong, we were happy with every recommendation. There is even an overall island map and a map of the downtown area to help you on your adventures. I wanted a travel guide that focused only on Cozumel and not the surrounding Yucatan/Playa Del Carmen/Cancun; this is indeed what I was looking for. There were no reviews on this guide when I purchased, there should be! Please don't hesitate, this guide is awesome. We also purchased the Cozumel Can-Do map, but liked this guide better.
