This text explains the process of localization in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Organized into separate chapters on the various nerves, plexuses and brain regions which control nervous system function, each chapter begins with a description of the anatomy of the particular nerve or structure and the principal signs or symptoms of the abnormalities occuring in that part of the nervous system. This is followed by a more detailed account of lesions of individual structures; each of these substructures is discussed in terms of its anatomical location; its function; the clinical signs accompanying the lesion; and the deformity, malfunction or other symptom which a patient can develop. The book is practical in that it demonstrates how to piece together findings from the neurological examination with specific areas of peripheral or central nervous system damage.

As A neurology resident, I believe this is one of the best book to be used during residency, to localize lesions, it is well written with good neuroantomy correlation, great tables, diagrams, pictures, detailed description and explanation. I found a lot of answers to daily neurology. Higly recomended.

This is a very detailed book. It is dry and moderately difficult reading, but is comprehensive in its subject matter. THis is not a book that I would read cover to cover and study from. It is more of a reference text. In fact, I refer to it nearly every day and do not predict that it will become outdated.
