5.0 out of 5 stars If you are looking for something different, this is it!
Echoes of Zappa, Parliament/Funkadelic, Fairport Convention, and...Weird Al. A highly enjoyable collection of tunes drawn from disparate influences and crafted into a sound that is truly one of a kind.

3.0 out of 5 stars different, even for alternative music; highly amusing
The Flying Fish Sailors are a truly unique experience. A blend of rock, Celtic, and broad humor make listening to them a singular experience, not to be missed. But, whether you like them or dislike them, their music is catchy, and stays with you far beyond the listening experience. Guaranteed to sneak a smile, even out of the biggest sourpuss!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Time!, January 17, 2004
This review is from: Loch Ness Monster (Audio CD)
If you are getting bored with the music that is coming out today. Tired of Britney? Christina? The Boy Bands? Or more of the crap that record companies want to shove down our throats.

These guys are your escape! Wonderful, head moving, beer drinking songs, to help you get through this thing called life!
Exploring themes of Moving, UFO Abductions, Caffiene Fits, and Dealing With Cannibals. Sounds like someone was having one very bad day! However, you just can't help but to laugh. Irony, what a wonderful thing!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's about time, September 16, 2000

This album continues a pattern of excellence that I have come to expect from the Flying Fish Sailors. This album makes a tasteful fusion of humor and musicianship that is uncommon in this day in age. I especially enjoy the combination of old songs and new songs; all are masterfully executed.

I would encourage the artists themselves to put their other albums for sale online. Congratulations guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Frank Zappa smashes into Celtic toe-tapping good time!, December 4, 1999
This review is from: Loch Ness Monster (Audio CD)
I originally heard this unpredictable band at the Texas Renaissance Festival happily playing traditional celtic music. I bought Loch Ness Monster after hearing the quite catchy "Ode to the Lima Bean". On the drive home - I couldn't get enough! More quixotic than Alice, more humorous than Zappa, and more sophisticated than the Austin Lounge Lizards. Love it

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent as always, July 31, 2005
This review is from: Loch Ness Monster (Audio CD)
Whether belting out an old sea dog classic or rolling you in the aisle with their brilliantly hysterical original music, the Flying Fish Sailors are ALWAYS a good investment for your music collection. I've been listening to these guys since I got addicted to them way back in the early 90's out at Texas Renaissance Festival and they have never failed to entertain. For the full treat, though, you definitely MUST see them live. King of the Cannibal Islands and Wharton UFO are absolutely side splitting in live performance. Love ya, guys! Mwah!

Thanks to a friend of mine's father, I saw these guys playing live at the Texas Rennaisance Festival this past year and fell in love with their music. This cd is worth every cent, and is a blast to listen to all times. I have to say "The Cat Came Back" has been stuck in my head for quite a while now. So be prepared to laugh and love the songs you hear! ;)

All these tunes are great! Whether it be rolling sea shanties you can sing along to, all out dancing tunes, or wonderfully humorous silly songs, they all are songs that you will listen to again and again! These guys are so wonderful I even had them play at my wedding reception! They also have several other great CD's! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!

This CD breaks me up every time I listen to it. From the groovy finger-snapping "Crawfish Man" to a version of "Loch Ness Monster" that would make Spinal Tap proud, this CD has something for everyone.
