5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book!, June 28, 2000
This review is from: Lock Bypass Methods (Paperback)
Forget the rest and buy the best. I've read many books on lock picking and lock bypass techniques. Usually the diagrams are difficult to understand and the instructins are impossible to follow. This book is so different from any other. All the information contained within it is up to date, unlike most of the other available books which date from 1975! If you want a book which descibes how to make a hundred and one different lock picks using the huge, fully equiped workshop that you happen to have, then look elsewhere. If, however, you simply want to be able to open a door, with as little fuss as possible using materials and tools that you will actually have access to, then this will be the best book that you buy this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and Practical, November 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Lock Bypass Methods (Paperback)
This book is great for someone who occasionally misplaces their keys. It is filled with all the information you need to get back inside your house or car in case you accidentally lock your keys inside. It teaches you how to easily build effective tools from scratch, and gives clear and concise instructions on how to use them. After reading this great book, I found myself doing things I never thought I could, such as opening the door to my house using something I would normally consider to be trash. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful, February 1, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Lock Bypass Methods (Paperback)
This book is a master guide to entering without keys. But don't misunderstand: it is not a guide to lockpicking, althought it has a good section on picking wafer and pin tumbler locks. It is especially useful for learning those little tricks that explore the weakness of doors (and cabinets, drawers, cars etc.), like credit-cardings, using wire-and-string tools to retract the latch, catching the linkage rod of the car's door, etc. It wasn't 100% useful to me because it was written thinking of american locks. Some of the techniques include manipulating those lock-in-knob doors (like Kwiksets), thing that does'nt exist in Brazil (here the lock is under the knob, like a deadbolt), though I succeded to credit card my door when I was without keys. There is a special feature: the book teaches you to build a pick gun and a plug spinner from wire and pens. If you have the habit to lose keys, this is an amazing book. Despite of its amazing content, it is a very good looking book, with practical illustrations to bypass doors, clean looking cover, and it is a well-filled book ( I mean, thick). If you are interested, go for it. If then, you want more on lock picking , I recommend "Secrets of Lockpicking" and "Advanced Lockpicking Secrets", both by master locksmith Steven Hampton.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, June 20, 2001

As a locksmith's ex-wife, and someone who helped pick and rekey locks, I loved it. But keep it for yourself, or your neighbors will find out how easy it is for even amateurs to bypass almost any lock.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wealth of Practical Knowledge, Easily Applied., May 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Lock Bypass Methods (Paperback)
I must preface this review by stating that I have never been able to read written instructions & then apply them. Assembly manuals, cookbooks - they remain a mystery. So when a friend introduced me to this book, I held no misconceptions about its impending usefulness where I was concerned. To my astonishment, the author's vividly descriptive writing, paired with impressive diagrams made for a most pleasant surprise - I can do this! True, I'd be exaggerating to say I look forward to the next time I'm confronted by a lock with no key, but I now know I can overcome such an obstacle.

On a related note, shortly after reading the book, I read a fascinating article in my local paper (Reno Gazette-Journal) on the author. I eagerly anticipate any future offerings from this talented scribe!

This book is written and illustrated simply enought so that everyone can make use of the methods employed within. I like it cause I actually go to meet the author at a celebrity booksigning appearance.... He was a wacky guy, but he knows his locks cold.
