*4.5 stars*
The Lock Jaw is one of the best home security choices out there. It's very affordable and easy to install. It makes "bump keys" obsolete (keys that can open any lock of a certain type) by ensuring that the deadbolt stays in place. If a criminal has a few bump keys (one for every general type of door lock) then you can almost guarantee that he/she will be able to open your front door with stealth and precision. That's pretty scary! But thanks to the Lock Jaw, even if someone tries to open the door with a key made for the lock, the deadbolt cannot retract. The Lock Jaw in conjunction with the "Master Lock Security Bar" will make your front door (or any door with a deadbolt and conventional knob) virtually immune to a break in. A burglar would most definitely move on to the windows after encountering either of those products, so make sure to get additional locks for the windows as well (and maybe some type of alarm incase they try to break the glass). Keep in mind that products like this are designed for keeping you safe when you're inside the house (especially at night when you're sleeping). When no one is home, you can't use the Lock Jaw because that would force you to have to break in/out of your own house. Alarms and other security devices are also recommended in addition to this tool. I purchased the "Lock Jaw" and "Master Lock Security Bar" mainly for my girlfriend and two daughters to use when I'm not home. We use them every night so if someone breaks in while we're sleeping, we'd be able to hear it because they would have to break a window. My only complaint is the supplied mounting screws are VERY cheap. The screws will get stripped every time, making for a frustrating experience. If you watch the demo video they say that you can also mount this thing with double sided tape or Velcro. I would never use tape just because it would probably be too weak. If you get "locking" velcro, it might stay in place but then you risk the chance of the glue losing it's grip and then you're up the creek without a paddle. I suggest using screws to mount it but get good quality ones. I had two extra screws in my tool box that worked, and chances are you do too. If not, you can always go to a hardware store and drop a couple of dimes to get some that won't strip. Overall, this is an excellent product. Every door with a deadbolt should have a Lock Jaw, because if the standard lock is so easily bypassed by lock picking and bump keys...what good are they? It's obvious that todays locks need reinforcement and the Lock Jaw is one of several answers to that unfortunate problem.

I sent an email directly to dydee at the company as per their website but never got a reply so...
The device works exceptionally well as long as the shuttle is either locked in the up position or down with the fingers straddling each side of the thumb latch with you on the same side. :-) I've used for over a year and a half with no problem. Until the one flaw of the device kicked in. I had guests one weekend, and one of the childern loosened the shuttle while the thumb latch was horizontal, (open) the fingers came to rest on the thumb latch. After they left, I went on a small errand and did't notice the position of the shuttle. When I turned the key from the outside the shuttle road the thumb latch like a cam until the thumb latch was vertical at which time the shuttle came down straddling the thumb latch and locking me out. I had to have the lock drilled out to get back in. I've thought of at least one way the lock jaw could be improved to prevent this from ever happening again... A groove in the shuttle and a tab on the inside of the shell at the bottom of the groove with a two inch long expanded spring in the groove. You'd compress the spring as you push the shuttle down over the thumb latch, and use the shuttle thumb screw to lock it in place down. Making it spring loaded would ensure it could never lock you out if someone loosens the thumb screw. Even with it's flaw, I still use it, because there isn't anything else I've found that works as well, as yet.

Every individual or family needs this security device. Expensive electronic security monitoring devices let you know when someone enters your home, but this device keeps that from happening in the first place. Very easy to install, and you are instantly protected with no monthly fees!
