I LOVE Lock n Locks. I have probably 100 seperate pieces in my home - round ones, square ones, pantry bins (best invention ever!).

I love these too, but I wanted to make you aware of what size they are (because if you are like me, just saying 1.4 cups doesn't mean anything!). These are about the size of a double-pack of Twinkies. You could put in maybe 10 Chips Ahoy cookies in them, but not a sandwich or other large items.

I just love these containers and have them in many sizes. The thing I like best about them is that they are completely air tight and water tight. I use the smaller ones to mix salad dressing. You can store liquids in them turned on their side in the frig (very important for crowded refrigerators like mine) and never have to worry about them leaking. For the same reason they're also great when taking food over to someone's house. They can get tossed around in the car without a worry about spilling.

I use these for leftovers but also have my entire pantry filled with different sizes of these. They are the only thing that keeps out moths and those irritating little bugs that get into the flour in the summer. My pantry has gone from being a mass of boxes and containers to an organized space with everything easy to find. I like the fact that they are see through too.

The only time I've had one break is the one that I keep the blueberries in in the freezer. I dropped in on the tile floor which cracked it, I guess because it was frozen. But other than that, they've held up well for the 3 years or so that I've used them. I would never buy another brand.

These little buggers are just the ticket for us! We grow lots of basil during the season and one of our favorite things is pesto sauce. These containers are just perfect for freezing meal-sized portions of pesto (and, I imagine, other sauces) for two people. They're sturdy, they don't leak, stain or warp in the dishwasher. Didn't hurt that we got it on the 4 for 3 special, either :-) Can think of a zillion uses for these!

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. THE LIDS ARE HOLDING UP VERY NICELY. CAN'T WAIT TO GET MORE. I AM SINGLE, AND THESE ARE THE PERFECT SIZE FOR FREEZING INDIVIDUAL FOODS, SUCH AS SOUP SERVINGS. THIS WAS A PRE-ORDER, AND I WAS KEPT UPDATED, WHICH WAS VERY NICE.

A friend had one of these, I took down the Lock & Lock name brand and did a search. Got them for something under the tree for my wife and she loved them. All that nasty tupperware, rubbermaid, etc. are going out the door except for a few specialty items. Nice, square/rectangular, they nest in each other well WITH the lids on unlike virtually all the other containers and they seal like champs. I used the little ones to put snacks in for my almost 4 year old son and he can pick one out, open it and reseal it tightly on his own and I wouldn't have tried that one with tupperware and it keeps his chips/popcorn/etc. fresh for the next day.

Go get some.

This product is absolutely fantastic, Solid, practicable and of very good quality. I have bought these in all sizes. I have put them in the dishwasher and have seriously abused them...and still they are in perfect state. I recommend you buy them and see. You will not buy any other brand ever again. Enjoy!!!!!

This size is ideal for single servings and is my favorite freezer container for items with a lot of liquid, like soups or chopped tomatoes. In the case of tomatoes, it is just the right size to hold the equivalent of one 11 oz. can. I prefer buying local tomatoes in season as well as using what comes from my garden, chopping or pureeing them and freezing them for chili, stews and soups throughout the rest of the year. I stack them in the freezer in these nice containers, where they not only keep extremely well, they are easy to defrost and add to the pot when I need them.

Freezing liquid-y things is a challenge because most plastic containers are very hard to open when frozen, sometimes the tops even break. These do the job beautifully. I've even been known to dunk the whole frozen unit in a bowl of hot water in the sink or under hot running water to loosen the contents, then take the top off and empty the frozen block right into the pot on the stove. Because the containers don't leak with the tops on, I don't have to carefully submerge just the base in the hot water. Works great for the cook in a hurry--as fast as opening a can, but fresher tasting and healthier.

I don't think the dimensions are correct, or else I got the wrong ones. Mine measure 3.25x4.5, not 5x7. Anyway, I haven't had a chance to use them, not sure what to use them for now...

Updated 3-22-09: I found the perfect use for these! I had a half gallon of heavy whipping cream, for various dishes. I had about half of that left and didn't want it to go to waste. So I measured 1 cup into each container and put it in the freezer to save for a later date. They have held up very well in the freezer, and stack nicely.

Love containers by Lock & Lock however be aware that the website's description for this set states that this product is 7.8" x 4.9" x 3.9"; this is the measure for all containers stacked together for shipping. Each container on the other hand is approximately 4.5" x 3.25" x 2".

Got to use them in the freezer immediately. Once a frozen bag (eg. veggies)is open, would rubber-band closed - now, just dump item into L&L containers, perfect size for portion control. I didn't plan on using them for this purpose, but it's working; Will order more at later date, cost is holding me back for now. Great service from Amazon...thanks.
