Do *not* get this U.S. print of the soundtrack.,

I love the soundtrack, but I recommend *not* to get this shortened version of the OST. I got suckered into getting this CD then I realized the U.K. print has 6 more songs. Why the hell does the Maverick label want to snip the tracks by the Stone Roses, Castaways and others? Ummm.....

I'm glad that I didn't buy this CD from Amazon, coz I bought it in a local shop, there are 27 titles for songs & dialogues. I found that Amazon's version is not complete. I like Truly, Madly, Deeply,, Man Machine, but I Amazon didn't have these songs. Viewers can find a B&W cover one.

The awesome song that is playing during the card game (Liar, Liar by the Castaways) is ABSENT from the US release as well as several others! BIG mistake in my opinion.

The original version of this soundtrack is one of the best I've heard. Cool funk and excellent bass lines. However this is NOT the original. where are all the other tracks, why no Stone Roses?

This was my favorite movie. Intelligent, hysterical dialogue and not stop entertainment. The soundtrack is one of a kind! Fits perfectly with each scene of the movie and most artists are not popular here in the US. Best thing I ever did was read the previous review on Amazon. The U.S. title of this CD is missing 6 songs from the movie! Some of the very best songs. Leaving them off the CD was a huge mistake in production. If you love the soundtrack, do yourself a favor and pick up the import (White Cover, I think produced in Germany). You won't be sorry!

Smokin Tunes,

This movie's trailers generated a lot of excitement amongst the cineastes in my college town. Unfortunately it arrived and departed during finals week and most of us were unable to see it. Luckily there was this superb soundtrack to hold us over until the movie came out on video. The buzz surrounding Guy Ritchie's film was that he had upped the anty on Quentin Tarrantino's "Pulp Fiction." Well all I know is that Ritchie definitely has a talent for picking music for his soundtrack and he has surpassed the quality of Tarrantino's soundtracks (the supposed contemporary master of this aspect of film). The soundtrack kicks off with the high-energy "One Hundred Mile City" from Ocean Colour Scene. This is the frenetic tune that powered the trailer (also the best tease since The Big Lebowski trailer) for the film. It then takes a tour through some classic gems: the reggaeish "Police and Thieves" by Junior Murvin; the hypnotic "Spooky" by Dusty Springfield; "The Boss" and "The Payback" from the "King of Soul" James Brown; and the sexual and powerful "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by the Stooges. The second half of the album is rounded-out by lesser known groups, but don't let that fool you, they are definitely quality tunes. In fact there isn't a bad tune on this CD and as a bonus there are various spoken bits from the movie. Actually the spoken dialogue is the only flaw of the record because it breaks the flow of these excellent tunes.

While on a recent trip the the UK, a good friend of mine had the CD and I must have listened to it everyday for a week and loved every minute of it. It was not until two weeks later that I finally saw the movie. This album contains some GREAT clips from some of the best scenes in the move too. The movie and the CD are a must see and hear.

Nothing like an incomplete playlist for a movie soundtrack,

You saw the movie with your friends, you saw it again on your own, you kept humming the catchy tunes Guy Ritchie used to create that special ambience for it all week. You think, "Hey -- this CD would be great for a long car ride, like to the cape." So you hop on amazon.com and -- click, click, click -- it's on its way. The CD arrives just in time for your Patriot Day weekend romp. You tear open the packaging and slide the much-anticipated soundtrack into your car's player while you roll down all the windows and open the sunroof. And bam -- there's that opening track you've been waiting to hear. You think, "This is going to be great," as you motor on down the street. Then, "I got to hear that song they played during that one scene . . .." You press the forward track button a few times. "No. No. Nope. Not it. Must be next. Next. Next." Nothing. Then the first song starts again. Your stomach folds and perspiration breaks out on your upper lip. "It can't be," you think, ejecting the CD. You examine it's playlist, swerving to avoid hitting a squirrel but almost hitting a car in the oncoming traffic instead. "What the *$!," you think -- THE SONG YOU LOVE ISN'T EVEN ON THE CD! Don't expect to find the Castaways' "Liar, Liar," played during the crucial scene in the movie where Eddie (Nick Moran), son of pub proprietor, JD (Sting), loses all the money he and his friends put up to get into Hatchet Harry's high-stakes poker game. Sure -- I could have looked at the playlist before I purchased the CD; you'll say, "that's why it's there." But would you really expect to have to do that to check for the song that's essentially the musical linchpin of the entire movie?! Well, would you? No, you wouldn't. And neither did I. And those "bonus" tracks of clips of dialogue -- is that supposed to make up for not having the most important song of the movie on the CD? THEY'RE NOT EVEN THE FUNNIEST LINES OF THE MOVIE! Thank heavens for iTunes.

Normally soundtracks don't find their way into my changer very often. I'll usually just put one or two tracks on a compilation disc. But this bad boy is a compilation disc already made with every song being top choice. The tracks on this CD were chosen be someone with taste as opposed to the usual bunch of Muppets. Enjoy!
