This review is from: Lockheed U-2 Dragon Lady - Warbird Tech Vol. 16 (Paperback)
Overall a nice addition to my collection. Some nice photos that I hadn't seen before.
Strengths: Solid photos, accessible narrative, crammed with illustrations, etc. - typical of Warbird Tech. Does what it should, quick hits of info and a workable overview of U2 in 100 pages. Weaknesses: This is a complaint of most of the warbird tech series - it provides us with great illustrations and images, but lacks just basic use of operational deployment timelines, development timelines, and other info that cries out for even just a simple table of data. Much of this is so lost in the narrative that you have to read half of the book to find the desired info. This is why it did not get a four or five star (I gave it a 3 1/2 star). Although not a homerun, the cost of the book, images, and topic make this a nice addition to anyones collection of U-2 material. |
