As a handyman and professional house painter of 35 years, I was a "contact cement / super glue" man, who believed that "if it doesn't take your breath and burn your eyes, it ain't worth using"!
Well, I now think different after using this product (Loctite Handyman's ALL-PURPOSE Adhesive Sealant)!
I was sceptical at first! I've used thousands of tubes of acrylic caulking and this product first reminded me of caulking, because it is initially white (dries clear), and it's odorless. THAT is where the similarity ends!
Caulking will "roll" off your fingers when it dreis... NOT this stuff! Caulking is mainly a "sealant"... This is a sealant, but whatever it gets on- it glues permanantly!
It will even work as a contact adhesive for leather and other fabrics!
The reason I'm here is to BUY MORE!
I hope this helps you to make a decision on the adhesive you will buy. Do yourself a favor... Try it!

I purchased this product (Loctite High Strength Acrylic Adhesive) to mend some torn backpacks that I have worn out (ripped) through extensive use. Previously, I had used quick setting (5-minute) Epoxy to rebond the torn seams. However, when looking for a replacement, I noticed that the epoxy did not say that it was suited for fabrics, whereas the Loctite Acrylic was. Since the cost was fairly reasonable considering its advertised features (on the package), it seemed like a good risk.

The adhesive is very low odor, especially compared to the epoxy. I have had trouble finding information on its tensile strength (at a right angle to the plane of the bond), but the shear strength (parallel to the plane of the bond) seems fairly high. To be on the safe side, I try to arrange the joints so that a shearing force is applied, rather than tension.

The instructions say to coat both surfaces of the joint before bonding, then wait 5 minutes before uniting them. I often forget about the project for up to fifteen minutes, but have not noticed any decrease in performance, which is still only minimally tested.

So far, I am quite pleased with this product. This review may be updated later when additional real-life testing has proven (or disproven) its claimed performance.

I have used this for about 14 years now. I bought a couple of these in 2005 from walmart and still have them and they still work just the same. My first choice when it comes to adhesives is my hot glue gun because it cures-cools right away and the repaired item is ready to use. In cases where I am dealing with water like mending a garden hose or where extreme temps will come into play like under the hood of my car I use this product. Another poster compared this to liquid nails, I agree but would say that loctite goes on up on LNs. You cant use LNs on garden hoses but you can use loctite.

I would recommend that you sand down the surface and clean it with 91% alcohol or vodka. Some rubbing alcohols leave a slight greasy residue

NOTE!!! THIS PRODUCT has been REPLACED. The current product: LOCTITE "Stik'n Seal NO MESS" is what I was sent. If you are set on buying the advertized product make sure thats what the seller is offering, because its more expensive and harder to find than the cheaper NO MESS, which is not even listed on Amazon. Hmmmm. It's best features are: water clean up while still uncured; it dries very clear; and it securely bonds almost anything. It works well on many non porous surfaces. Its work time is about 5 to 15 minutes depending on temp and humidity. In dry environments you must work quickly if applying to a large area. Its almost odorless and often cures completely within 24 hours. Its difficult to remove without a blade once its dry so be carefull when you use it. Its thicker than superglue and may not be visually suitable for small repairs on areas where an invisible repair is desired such as china or jewelry. The only improvement this product could use is the inclusion of an extension nozzle for more precise application in hard to reach areas.

I had a tube of this stuff before it was called by the present name (it was called "No Mess Adhesive"). I found it useful as a substitute for silicone in electronics repairs. It holds down larger components and prevents solder cracks from vibration without the corrosive outgassing of silicone. When the old tube ran out, I bought this thinking it was the same thing. It was....seems to be the exact same formula. Recommended for securing larger capacitors and other components to PC boards.

I bought some of the outdoor version and it is *completely* different stuff. Smells like contact cement, and I think that is what it is.

This is excellent glue it is stronger then any other glue I've tried except liquid nails adhesive and it's much easier to work with than liquid nails. Loctites Handyman's Choice even worked to glue books back together and the only other glue I'd found that would work on books was liquid nails. It also works well on just about any thing else to but it takes about 24 - 72 hours to dry completely.

I tell my friends this is the greatest adhesive on the planet! I stumbled upon it years ago when it was first called Handyman's All Purpose Adhesive; the product was repackaged as Stik 'n Seal a few years ago. I needed a product that didn't have an odor because I do a lot of close-up, indoor craft work - and - I have a pet. I needed something safe and effective that wouldn't harm me or my pet. Stik 'n Seal is fantastic on multiple surfaces (wood on wood, wood on metal, fabric on wood, ceramics, etc.) I used it to glue my computer desk top over 7 years ago and it's still holding! Better than any other product I've used. Try it - you'll love it!
