They are very good quality and have held up well.

For the camper, chuckwagon enthusiast, or dutch oven cook, these gloves are great for working the fire and moving hot cast iron pans.

These appear to be decent quality, but we may never know.

I've been using these gloves for the good part of a year now with my indoor oven. They work fine on most things that come out of the oven, however when I use a very hot oven temperature, such as for bread baking in a cast iron dutch oven, the heat comes through. Ouch. I would not buy again. To me they are awkward as well. My daughter has the "Ov Glove" type - I really like hers much better and they will handle the extra heat. They are much more user friendly in my opinion.

I bought these gloves for use with my outdoor barbecue. I cook with a wood fire, so temps can easily get over 600 degrees in the firebox. These leather gloves protect my hands very well in tending the fire [adding wood, stirring, poking, etc]. With these gloves I can easily reach into the firebox to reposition a piece of wood without any danger of burning my skin. They are also great for adjusting the draft vent on the side of the firebox. After having a similar pair [high profile name in barbecue] of these indefinitely backordered last summer [which I then canceled the order], these gloves are perfect for any backyard barbecue chef who is cooking with any type of slow cook oven or pit. I cook with a Char Griller Pro. These gloves are thick, lined, and up to the task of slow cook, hours long fires in the barbecue of ribs, chicken, brisket etc. I highly recommend them! I have another pair which I use for my home fireplace in the winter. This is a quality product for a great price! I have never had a blistered finger or singed hair with these.

The gloves do their work when it's for holding the tongs atop of the hot bbq. But for grabbing things directly off the grill- Don;t try, the heat is too much.

Dutch oven cooking, working with charcoal chimneys with tongs, or hot lids? Buy other gloves if you want inferior merchandise. Buy these if you want the real deal.

I am going to return these gloves asap. What a waste of my gift money. They look great and I love Lodge products. They are normally great, but these do not protect me from heat at all. I use cast iron in almost all of my cooking and I can only hold on to the cookware for about 10 seconds. The other night I got a very bad burn when I was moving my skillet from the oven to the stove. That is about 8 feet away.

These gloves are heavy-duty and priced right. There is a cloth lining and they fit a man-sized hand easily. Since there's only one pice of leather seperating you from the heat, I think the rating would be 450 dgrees for under 10 seconds. I would have gladly paid more for two or three pieces of leather (like welding gloves have) in the palm area. These are not fireplace gloves so don't try to pickup burning logs. All things considered; I can get the lid off my Lodge Dutch oven without getting burnt -- And that's all I wanted.

As another reviewer already mentioned, these are not good with high heat. Anything above 400 and you're going to feel it quite quickly. The problem is probably that there's just not enough stuff between your hand and whatever you're picking up. I have a really old oven mitt that works better because it has padding. Perhaps it's just not designed for oven use.

I used these gloves when making stone soup over a campfire. They worked great in grabbing and moving the 20 quart po and lid. I was also able to grab the ends of the logs in the fire to move them around.

I especially like how long they are. They do a good job of protecting the lower part of your forearms as well as your hands.
