This is my favorite bowl for serving soup. It keeps the soup hot down to the last spoonful. It is good for finishing onion soup in as it can handle being baked in the oven. It also can be used for small sides - such as pork and beans- on the grill. I have made individual round loafs of bread, individual meatloaf etc. My daughter has food allergies so I have even made her own personal serving of a hot dish minus the offending food and we all still get to eat the same meal. Wonderful dish. I have used mine for 20 years and still love it. Want to purchase some for my now married children.

They look very nice and are great for serving soups and stews. We pre-heat them in the oven for a while to help keep the soup hot when serving guests, but to avoid unpleasant surprises we do not pre-heat the lids (Lodge Logic L5MIC3 Miniature Lid). Be careful with what you put under these kettles if you pre-heat them, though; placing them straight on a plastic tablecloth may be a bad idea. (We use coasters we make from boards the kids break at tae-kwon-do.)

As is usual with this cast iron stuff, wash them ASAP and put a thin coat of vegetable oil on them to keep the seasoning healthy and the rust away.

Typical great Lodge quality cast iron. I use mine to keep basting sauces warm on my grill during a long smoke or BBQ.

Adorable soup bowls. Can be used for any small serving bowl application. Great for french onion soup.

I LIVE HIGH IN THE MOUNTAINS. FOOD GETS COLD QUICK. THIS SOLVES THE PROBLEM. AND YOU CAN HEAT IT RIGHT IN THE BOWL. NO PAN TO WASH.

Another nice Lodge product.
Simply peel all the cloves of a head of garlic. A little time consuming.
Add a little good quality olive oil.
Put the lid on, plop it on a stove burner at the lowest heat and wait ten to twenty minutes or so, depends on your stove. A little experimentation is in order.
Voila, done and ready.
Shmear on Levy's Rye Bread (with the caraway seeds).
Deeleesh.
On reflection, if you have a larger brood, or many guests,
you can easily pack a half dozen heads of garlic
in this little pot.
Sorry, don't know the cooking time there.

These little mini kettles are exactly what I wanted for mini pot pies and stews. They're perfect also for reheating single servings of food. I put them right over the flame to heat my dinner, and then bring them to the table (and place them on a trivet of course, because they're HOT). We've used them frequently for small leftover meals.

my kids and I love these little kettles. when we make chili or soup they love to eat from them.

I love the size of this kettle. Good quality and perfect size for serving. Can't wait to use this kettle. I will order 2 more kettle from Amazon.

I purchased my first 1-pint kettle on a road trip. I couldn't get over how many uses I found for it -- from nuts to salsa to soup to dips - hot or cold - the uses were endless. When I looked on-line, I found them on Amazon so I ordered four more -- three to complete a 4 pc. set for myself and one as a gift for the couple who went on the road trip with us -- they were sorry they didn't get one for themselves then -- but they have one now.
