5.0 out of 5 stars Wonder-ful
I had been wondering why no one had made something like this before and then the folks from Lodge did...It is perfect for making cheese sandwiches or really, any type of sandwich, as the bread fits in it perfectly...But what I wanted it for was, I make a mean sausage ,egg and cheese sandwich and was always flustered cause I could not get all of the egg on the bread...

1.0 out of 5 stars This is the worst product I've ever gotten in my LIFE
Okay, I ordered this skillet to basically cook my egg and toast in the mornings.
I got it today and when I opened it, I could not BELIEVE what I was seeing.

First,
This skillet seemed like it was painted by black paint and that paint was peeling off.

Second,
This is way too heavy. I do not think this is for cooking. Rather it is for...

I had been wondering why no one had made something like this before and then the folks from Lodge did...It is perfect for making cheese sandwiches or really, any type of sandwich, as the bread fits in it perfectly...But what I wanted it for was, I make a mean sausage ,egg and cheese sandwich and was always flustered cause I could not get all of the egg on the bread without some hanging out all over....Well this little beauty changed all that for me cause when I make the eggs now in this pan, they fit the bread perfectly...I would recommend this pan to any one who does sandwiches or the like...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lodge Square Cast Iron Skillet, January 6, 2008
This review is from: Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Inch Wonder Skillet (Kitchen)
This little skillet is the best investment I have made in years. It is just large enough for two people. Since my husband and I are retired it is the perfect skillet for corn bread for two or for a large "biscuit" that would be equal to about four regular sized biscuits. I have used cast iron skillets all my life and have many sizes but this one gets used more than any skillet in my kitchen. I would highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for lots of things!!!!, September 17, 2006
This review is from: Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Inch Wonder Skillet (Kitchen)
I bought this skillet for a spoon rest, and it works great for that, but it also works great as others have stated for cooking eggs or toast. My girlfriend uses it all the time for cooking hotdogs as well. They fit perfectly and you can roll them back and forth. Awesome product and well worth the 10 bucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, January 5, 2007

This is my 2nd lodge logic product (first being a 12" skillet) and I love it. It just the right size for bread and eggs and for pan frying small quantities. The only minor hassle I see is during cleanup when food in the corners does not come off easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonder-ful Skillet!, August 18, 2006
This review is from: Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Inch Wonder Skillet (Kitchen)
I added this to my growing collection of cast iron cookware! I use this all the time for making sandwiches or eggs! It is lightweight because it is so small and cooks everything beautifully! (Cast iron anything cooks great!) It cleans easily too. I keep it out on my stove because I use it so much! I highly recommend this wonderful little skillet!

5.0 out of 5 stars A bit large but still works fine., October 27, 2008
This review is from: Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Inch Wonder Skillet (Kitchen)
This little gem makes a good sized scrambled egg square for sandwiches with no egg hanging down. While a little large for standard "wonder type" bread I simply found a bread large enough to fit. A 5" by 5" square sourdough bread at my local W Superstore. It comes sliced or unsliced Two eggs scrambled works fine when paired with sliced ham and a slice of cheese. The whole sandwich can then be grilled in the still hot skillet in which the eggs were cooked. I am amazed at the comments about the size being so small when the description clearly stated the size as 5"square. 5' is the same the world over, so why the surprise. As for the coating peeling off, simply re-season the skillet. It is a simple matter and any owner of cast iron knows this procedure is periodically required if the old seasoning is washed off intentionally or comes off by accident.

This little pan is a great size and shape for tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette), and of course the cast iron heats evenly and holds the heat. You can do all sorts of small stuff with it, as others have mentioned. Handy when you're cooking for one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight and light on storage space, November 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Inch Wonder Skillet (Kitchen)
After checking out the reviews, I bought this small skillet to make French Toast. As the other reviewers said, my home made bread does not fit perfectly, and I had to trim some slices slightly on two sides. Also, the handle is small and gets extremely hot. Now for the reasons I assigned 5 stars. Because of its size, in comparison with other cast iron pans, it is very light weight, which is great for people with joint problems or who want to avoid even moderately heavy lifting. Also, there is never enough storage space in kitchens, and this pan takes up little space; it can be hung if desired. Although it is pre seasoned, after using it, I scrub with hot water, heat it, and rub with oil; there has been no sticking. I also cook with a tiny amount of margarine (or butter), much less than with my previous pan. My family has really enjoyed what I prepared.

5.0 out of 5 stars I "wondered" what I'd ever use it for., November 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Inch Wonder Skillet (Kitchen)
I got this out of pure curiosity, "wondering" what I'd ever use it for. I found it's great for heating up cheese dip on the stove (and it goes directly to the table), grilling a few onions or garlic cloves, heating a small amount of leftovers, toasting pumpkin seeds or peanuts, melting butter, heating up sauce or gravy. It's also good for individual servings of hot dessert, and it's shallow enough to use as a burger press too.

I found another use for it today: Keeping individual servings of french fries hot! Just heat it up in the oven or on the stove, and put your hot fries on it so they don't get cold as quickly.
