The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. This 4-1/2-quart Signature Series Dutch oven makes a beautiful addition to any kitchen. The pot's two gleaming stainless-steel loop-style handles add a real touch of class to the black cast iron, as does the ergonomic stainless-steel knob on the tight-fitting lid. But it's not all about looks. The 10-by-4-inch cast-iron pot slowly simmers soups and stews on the stovetop without hotspots, and bakes pasta casseroles and chicken-and-rice dishes in the oven. Both the pot and lid are oven-safe, so a dish can be started on the stovetop and finished in the oven. The pre-seasoned finish helps prevent food from sticking and rust from developing. To take care of the cast-iron finish, simply scrub the Dutch oven by hand after use with a stiff brush (never steel wool) under hot water, and dry immediately. If the handles discolor from oven-use or over-heating, they may be cleaned with stainless-steel cleaner. Amazing Capacity and Great to Look at too,

In the year I have had this pot I have made some great stews and pot roasts. The capacity is ample to serve 2-4 people. It performs as a good heavy dutch oven should. The Stainless handles add a touch of class to the pot. It has retained it's seasoning without having to re-do.

Could not be more pleased with this product. The claim to be "pre-seasoned" is not completely true in my mind. It does have a surface ready to cook, but it will take use and care to develop a true hard carbon non stick seasoned characteristic... but it will and it will become something my kids will fight over when I am gone.

I'll admit, this is the first dutch oven I have owned/used. But I'm very pleased with it!The preseasoned surface is better than expected. Cooked foods come off easily; though a deglazing helps greatly. The handles really do stay cool when cooking on the stove top. It is somewhat heavy. Though it reeks of quality and I expect it to last a lifetime. Would recommend! :)
