Amazon.com Review

Home on the range--at last. If you've ever burned food over the hot spots of a garden-variety camp stove, you'll appreciate the exceptional control and even heat distribution offered by this rugged yet precise outdoor range. A patented "no flame-out" dual burner system has 20,000 BTU of firepower for every kind of cooking--from rolling boil to gentle simmer. Ideal for camping, tailgating, or as a complement to the backyard grill, this stove is also portable. Its top cover flips out to become two, handy side shelves. Detachable legs let you cook tabletop or freestanding, then conveniently store in a bay under the stove. The 12- by 24-inch cooking surface offers room to cook for even large groups of hungry hikers. A removable grate makes the base pan easy to clean. Durable steel construction features a weather-resistant powder-coated finish, easy-to-use ABS plastic knobs, and solid-brass valves. To get cooking, simply attach a propane tank to the UL-listed, Type 1 regulator and hose. --Mary Park

1.0 out of 5 stars Looks good but only temp settings are hot and hotter, September 9, 2006

I have the stainless steel version of this range. After burning more meals then I want to admit, I contacted the company. I was told "We do not manufacture the Smoky Mtn Range here at our factory, it is imported. We have recently discontinued carrying this item. We have found the problem that it only has one heat setting. I am sorry for the inconveniences this may have caused. But at this time we do not have any adjustments for the grill. "

5.0 out of 5 stars a truly great outdoor cooking surface, June 21, 2008
This review is from: Lodge Smoky Mountain Range Steel Stove, Black (Sports)
Used one of these just this morning and am surprised by the other review. We found it to be a GREAT cooking surface and had no problem adjusting the heat on it. We were cooking tender greens and were able to adjust the heat as needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars smoky mtn range, August 12, 2008
This review is from: Lodge Smoky Mountain Range Steel Stove, Black (Sports)
This is a great cooking range. I have owned one since Lodge first offered them and will buy a second one to replace my old camp chef stove. The equipment is easy to store, travel, and set up. Best used with cast iron cookware, as with most heavy duty stoves it has high temp burners, and cooking with it is different then cooking with a coleman propane stove. But the cooking experience and equipment style and use is great. Love that is is twice as compact as a camp chef stove but jsut as powerful. Recommend the black stove version just for looks after it is used several times.
