3.0 out of 5 stars Optional for advanced gardeners, December 1, 2010

I consider this to be a book for a beginning gardener. I didn't get new information out of it and I'm disappointed that they didn't identify many more types of plants, since Logees has a huge and fascinating inventory. Many of their plants are tropical or subtropical, I thought for sure that there would be some mention of helpful hints for growing tropicals indoors or in colder climates but I didn't see any. I didn't see much in the way of specifics at all. The photography is great, and I don't regret buying it, but I thought it was overpriced for the level of content it contained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful blooming house plants, February 28, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This is a beautiful book featuring 80 different plants. The plants in this book are listed in alphabetical order with each plant having it's own section. Each section starts with an easy to read list of important facts. Some of the facts on the list are: Botanical Name, Common Name, Origin, Light, Minimum Temperature, Soil and several others items.

There is also a section called Unique Characteristic/Other Growing Tips: In this section they go into more detail about the plants and give helpful information that will make it easier for you to grow. They talk about different varieties of the same plant and have pictures of them. Some genera only have one variety while others have too many to include all of them.

All of the plants in this book are blooming plants and all of the pictures are of the plants in bloom. There are no green plants. Some of the plants are easy to find locally, but others will be found only in specialties greenhouse or by mail order. Logee's Greenhouses carries all of the plants in this book. If you love blooming plants that are out of the ordinary you should love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, June 5, 2010

I love this book. It provides gorgeous pictures with a breakdown of growing conditions, propagation and much more for many tropical houseplants. It allowed me to learn about plants I had never considered trying and that are not found in typical houseplant books.
