5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful blooming house plants
This is a beautiful book featuring 80 different plants. The plants in this book are listed in alphabetical order with each plant having it's own section. Each section starts with an easy to read list of important facts. Some of the facts on the list are: Botanical Name, Common Name, Origin, Light, Minimum Temperature, Soil and several others items.

I consider this to be a book for a beginning gardener. I didn't get new information out of it and I'm disappointed that they didn't identify many more types of plants, since Logees has a huge and fascinating inventory. Many of their plants are tropical or subtropical, I thought for sure that there would be some mention of helpful hints for growing tropicals indoors or in colder climates but I didn't see any. I didn't see much in the way of specifics at all. The photography is great, and I don't regret buying it, but I thought it was overpriced for the level of content it contained.

(REAL NAME)
This is a beautiful book featuring 80 different plants. The plants in this book are listed in alphabetical order with each plant having it's own section. Each section starts with an easy to read list of important facts. Some of the facts on the list are: Botanical Name, Common Name, Origin, Light, Minimum Temperature, Soil and several others items.

There is also a section called Unique Characteristic/Other Growing Tips: In this section they go into more detail about the plants and give helpful information that will make it easier for you to grow. They talk about different varieties of the same plant and have pictures of them. Some genera only have one variety while others have too many to include all of them.

All of the plants in this book are blooming plants and all of the pictures are of the plants in bloom. There are no green plants. Some of the plants are easy to find locally, but others will be found only in specialties greenhouse or by mail order. Logee's Greenhouses carries all of the plants in this book. If you love blooming plants that are out of the ordinary you should love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, June 5, 2010

I love this book. It provides gorgeous pictures with a breakdown of growing conditions, propagation and much more for many tropical houseplants. It allowed me to learn about plants I had never considered trying and that are not found in typical houseplant books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Logee's Greenhouse Container Plants, February 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I like this book so much, the information is amazing, they have done a great job in describing these plants. I only wish it covered more plant material from their amazing list of inventory. It is very helpful to read the info on plants listed in their catalog, and disappointing to not see some others listed in the book. I consider the book a catalog reading companion on the happy day the catalog comes in the mail.

I do understand that it would in reality be impossible to list all the plants in the greenhouse. I guess it's only a wish on my part.
But thanks for a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully enhanced with full-color photography, April 9, 2002
This review is from: Logee's Greenhouses Spectacular Container Plants: How to Grow Dramatic Flowers for Your Patio, Sunroom, Windowsill, and Outdoor Spaces (Hardcover)
Logee's Greenhouses Spectacular Container Plants by expert horticulturalist and lecturer Byron Martin and his wife Laurelynn share 109-year-old family secrets on how to grow exotic flowers. Third-generation owners of Logee's, a firm that has been involved with growing and selling more than a thousand varieties of tropical and subtropical container and garden plants for both indoor and outdoor use since 1892, the information and advice offered are authoritative, dependable, practical, and totally "reader friendly" for gardeners and horticulturalists of all backgrounds and degrees of experience. Featured are eighty of the most popular genera and detailed information on how to grow, care for, prune, and winter over these beautiful, fragrant plants. The informed and informative text is wonderfully enhanced with full-color photography, sections on soils and fertilizers, insects, disease, containers and potting, pruning, and general trouble shooting. Logee's Greenhouses Spectacular Container Plants is a welcome and invaluable addition to any serious gardening or horticulture reference shelf.
