Good Overview of a fascinating subject,
This review is from: Logging Railroads of Alabama (Library Binding)
This a good book that tackles a very extensive subject-logging railroads. While it does not have any massive,in depth histories, there is still lots of good information and plenty of photographs. It's always nice to see any book on regional logging railroads. The information contained within should help any begining researcher find new information himself,as well as being interesting to the casual railfan, offering a glimpse into the rich history of southern railroading.

This is an excellent reference for Alabama's logging railroads. Plenty of detail for each and every logging branch in Alabama, including a section for ones that may or may not have existed. Even more valuable is the detailed roster for each of these railroads. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Alabama or Southeastern railroad history.

This book is full of details for the numerous railroads that were to be found during the early 1900's in the deep south. Not only Alabama but others like Mississippi and Louisiana are included.

This review is from: Logging railroads of Alabama (Hardcover)
A thoroughly enjoyable romp through an historic period in our history. The logging railroad was the cause for many a boom in out-of-the-way places followed by the certainly of a letdown. Some communities survived as monuments to this moment in our country's industrial history. The book was a well written with a factual presentation.
