Best value for the money on Apple,

There are now a number of DAW's available for Macs. Why choose Logic rather than one of the others such as Cubase, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, etc.? In a nutshell: Value. Apple provides a huge number of software instruments to drive with your MIDI keyboard, abundant (perhaps too-abundant) processing plugins, a gigantic number of samples to fire off in your loops, and of course MainStage for firing off your samples and MIDI instruments at performance time. And while workflow for some things is, frankly, lousy, that's just as true of its competitors. Every single one of them has tasks where you have to jump through way too many hoops to get common things done.
Why *NOT* to buy Logic: It only runs on Macs. Duh. If you intend to work with musicians who don't have Macs to e.g. swap tracks across the country, it gets tedious because you have to bounce your tracks to a common format (WAV) and then they have to import the bounce into their own DAW so that they can hear what they're adding a new track to. Not a bad problem for occasional things of this sort, but if you're regularly collaborating with a non-Mac guy, it gets really, really tedious and you should probably choose something other than Logic.

Great Program, not much of an upgrade,

I am a fan of Logic Studio but 9 is not much of an upgrade from 8. It should have been named 8 1/2.

Absolutely The Best,

I'm a Mac user for only 3 years or so, but during that time I learned to really appreciate the quality, durability and ease-of-use of this computer.
Logic Pro 9 is, in my opinion, the best music creation software available today. I've used ProTools and Cubase in the past, but none of them is as easy to learn and adapt to as Logic. $500 is quite a lot, but you get a huge return for that amount. Thousands of ready-made high quality loops, a whole lot of features and custom options, and a very strong set of programs. With Logic, there are no more excuses - you've got everything (and then some) you need to make great music, so go ahead and get it done...

Everything You Need for Music Production,

I do mostly solo music production, songwriting and a little sound design and I've been a Logic user since version 8. Previous to that I was a Cubase user on a Mac. There are several things I really like about Logic. The amount of included content in the Pro version is astounding. From the amp simulations, synth plugins, virtual instruments and Apple Loops, you can usually find something that fits your needs. Flex tool is cool for minor timing tweaks. The drum replacer works well, but since I'm normally using MIDI tracks and Addictive Drums, I don't use it much. If you don't think you need Apple Loops and virtual instruments, I would save the cash and go with Logic Express. You can always upgrade later simply for the price difference of the two products.
I also really like that no dongle is required and registering the product is as simple as entering the serial number.

Best music program out there!,

I recently purchased the Logic Pro 9 (aka Logic Studio) program from an Amazon partner. Regretfully I had to return the product as I am a newbie and need some technical help understanding and grasping the complexities of a program this sophisticated. Shortly after purchasing the Logic 9 Upgrade I was mailed an advertisement from a company that provides free lifetime technical support in helping get new Logic Users up and running: exactly what I needed. I contacted the seller immediately and notified them of my interest in that kind of product... the reseller was not able to provide the same type of support, so I was given an RMA (return merchandise authorization) and promptly got the product unopened back to the reseller. I received a credit to my card within days of mailing it back, and could not have been happier with the way it worked out. Logic is so powerful I even found a way to design a virtual guitar, that allowed me to choose whether I wanted to play it with regular round wound strings or flat wound strings like a 12 string Ric would do. It thinks of everything. Now that I am up and running, I find Apple Logic 9 (Studio) to be the best music program out there. I have made 3 recordings, my best being a 24 bar tune for a 50 piece orchestra. It was a breeze. I would do business with them and Amazon again in a heartbeat.

Leaving Pro Tools for Logic Pro Studio,

Aargh! After three years with Pro Tools I've had it and am finally getting at least 10-times the work done using Logic Pro 9 in the latest Studio version from Apple. No flukes or excuses or forums required to use Logic in the professional work I do. And it fits right in with Final Cut Studio, which it should because they're made to work together. No problems and updates that are on time, practical, and keep my work flow going without any excuses. Record in GarageBand or Logic and clean it up in Sound Track Pro, and only load the plug-ins YOU want to keep your HD and CPU cool, calm, and collected.

This software is absolutely amazing. It does pretty much everything. Record anything in any way you can think of. All of the effects you can think of as well.
Once you learn the ins and outs of this software, it allows you to spend your time creating, instead of continually messing with the program to get it to do what you want it to (as was the case with all of the "P.C. compatible" software). Keep in mind that you need an apple computer(Power Mac), and there is a bit of a learning curve ~ as there is with all music software. 2 gigs of memory or more would be best. I LOVE IT!
