5.0 out of 5 stars one of my all time favorites
while both discs are good, disc b alone is worth the price. if it was possible to wear through a disc, it'd be long gone. this is the perfect balance of quick beats to keep you thinking, jazzy melodies to keep things relaxed, and deep rolling bass to sooth the soul. 2.0 out of 5 stars Dull music with annoying samples
Perhaps disc-a is better than disc-b but I've lost that somewhere :( Disc-b is really quite dull though. The music lacks content and is full of very repetetive annoying samples. Don't get me wrong - I like Drum & Bass and Techno - but this mix is irritating and dull.

It's one the best discs i've found to throw in during a late night intense conversation, and an absolute perfect disc for a work session with nothing but your headphones and your thoughts.. not to mention just closing your eyes and floating away with the bass.

i've listened to most of the other logical progression discs and disc b here is by far my favorite. highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing album...but there are two versions, August 1, 2001
This review is from: Logical Progression (Audio CD)
First things first, the cd you are looking at, Logical Progressions the 2-disc set is absolutely amazing. Perfect introduction to the genre but also pure enough to stand the test of time. The songs have an excellent spacey quality, all very melodic and not noisy and mean sounding.

Now to clear up some confusion: this is NOT the same disc as "Logical Progression Level 1" even though tehy have the same cover. "Level 1" is a 3 disc set. Disc one and two are completely different songs than on this particular collection. Disc 3 however is a mix of kind of the "Best of" from the logical collection you are looking at right now. Confusing? yes. Both good cds? Very.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my first drum and bass selections..., August 4, 2004
By
This review is from: Logical Progression (Audio CD)
After Dieselboy introduced me to the UK jungle sound, I began my quest into the genre now commonly described as drum and bass. It's only logical I found this goodlooking album while rummaging the isles of the Amazon.com warehouse (Newcastle, DE) as I picked orders for music lovers like you. This double disc recieved countless rewinds during my one hour commute between home and work. It's still a classic, and I still love "Demons Theme", and the track "Music". If you're a drum and bass historian, this will help you understand the logical progression of drum and bass music from hardcore, to jungle, to its many sub-genres. Most junglists know this albums sub-genre is labeled atmospheric, or "intelligent" drum and bass. No one can rock a sound system like LTJ

5.0 out of 5 stars Ambience + musical versatility = L.T.J. Bukem, October 31, 2001
By
This review is from: Logical Progression (Audio CD)
One of my all time favorite D'N'B cd's. Track after track is smoothly mixed without blemish on disc B. Just when the ragga and jump up mania was at it's peak, L.T.J. Bukem came with a new feel, a new vibe, and a new flava for the massive. A revolutionary figure in the evolution of drum'n'bass, LTJ Bukem decided to go against the grain and do his own thing. He proves that versatility is vital for musical growth especially in the realm of drum'n'bass. You should enjoy the legendary "Music" which made him famous and if you like the vocal side of d'n'b then the song "One and Only" by PFM is sure to have you pressing "repeat one" on your CD player. This is aaaaaambient, chill out jungle but you can also have a go on the dancefloor with tracks like "Western" with MC Conrad. How can you call yourself a drum'n'bass head and not have this CD???

5.0 out of 5 stars Showcase of some of the highest quality D&B around, August 14, 2005

I have had this album for a long time now, the style of "Logical Progression" is still better than at least 99% of all the other music I have owned. The album cover is perfect, whoever made it should be complimented because it gives the album such a good identity. The song titles are also really cool. Mostly everytime I can't figure out what I want to listen to I put this on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Sounds, July 13, 2000

Hey Guys! Thanks to Amazon.com you have the opportunity to purchase Logical Progressions by L.T.J. Bukem.

I first heard of L.T.J. Bukem's Logical Progressions and I immediately fell in love with it. My friend got it free, in cassette form, years ago from one of the dj magazines. He got it years ago so I figured that it would be difficult to find. I checked around and no one had it nor could they order it for me. Amazon, you rock! Thanks so much.

This cd is very smooth and jazzy. It was some tight vocals mixed throughout which is a definite plus in my book. This cd is very soulful and beautiful. It means so much to me. "One and Only" is my favorite track as well, but there are some close seconds.

I was surprised to see that Amazon only sold around 8,000 Logical Progressions. I know it took me a while to hear of Mr. Bukem but once I did I was hooked. I'm not a big jungle kind of person, but L.T.J. Bukem has his own distinct, sensual, relaxing way of expressing his music.

This cd is fantastic and the more I listen to it, the more it gets even better!

4.0 out of 5 stars Temp, May 11, 2000

Both discs keep your life well paced with LTJ. Disc 1a has an upbeat tempo that flows continuously. Some fine drumnbass tracks that you won't be able to resist listening to over and over again. While disk 1b eases you through continuous rythyms with a smoother groove. A definite must have for bukem fans. "One and only" is a personal favorite. This album is about textures and transitions that transend dnb expectations. I am not a huge jungle junkie, but I would hit this album whether I was a jungle fan or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely essential, November 24, 2002

this and metalheads platinum breakz II are the most important compilations any serious dnb/jungle addict must own.
Its ridiculous that you already don't own these two...especially if you make dnb or jungle.
For those of you out there that do produce, if you ever feel that you are straying from your roots (in a negative way), or feel the need to understand where we are headed, please do not hesitate to study these.
If you don't get it already there's no point in me continuing.
OS...

5.0 out of 5 stars The evolution of more than a genre, January 17, 2002
By
Annika (Stockholm, Sweden) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Logical Progression (Audio CD)
Really incredible music can blows away the boundaries of what folks may traditionally call their favorite categories or styles. Logical Progressions does exactly that. I have seen people, previously unacquaintaced with the term drum and bass, and minimal to absolutely no exposure to the genre, listen to this cd, and adopt to its rhythm with a smooth instancy. Incredible music to study, dance, cook, chill, sleep, exercise...whatever (truly!) to. This music inspires something on a cellular level, reflecting something perhaps even much more than the evolution of drum and bass (which Logical Progressions represents with startling acuity). Dang, can it get any better? Let's see.

Now I'm a BIG fan of LTJ and have 4 of his CDs, but NONE of them come anywhere near this one. Hands down, this is the best CD he's EVER done!!!!!! On the other CDs of his that I have I have only a select few that I'm willing to play over and over again. Just to clarify, I consider a song good if I'm want to hear it over and over again and/or I bob my head to it. Another criteria I have in considering a song good is if it plays in my head a lot. This CD has me bobbing my head to EACH AND EVERY song on it so I KNOW it's fabulous. I like the fact that it has a lot of songs written LTJ himself. What's even better is they are the best of the best he's ever done. I've heard a lot of LTJ's songs and (unfortunately) theres quite a few that I don't like but on Logical Progression he definitely picked the creme de la creme. He has definitely put on wax music of caliber to rival his PHENOMENAL live sets. I pray one day he will return to play a set at my fave club, Necto, and play these songs as part as part of it!!!!
