Good summary for newcomers to the field,

I purchased this book about 15 years ago, it was a valuable asset to have handy when I was responsible for the Logistics Division of a formerly top consumer electronics company. The book is a good reference for analysis of logistics operations, but the book does not have the theoretical basis of what is contained. If you are looking for a basic knowledge book of supply chain principles, I recommend to buy: Introduction to Materials management by Tony Arnold.
