Great Sound, small size,
By
This review is from: Logitech Z-3i 3-Piece Speaker System (Silver) (Personal Computers)
I picked up a pair of this recently and was pretty surprised. For years I used the cheap awful, noname speakers that come with pc's. Once I plugged them all in, I was quite surprised, especially from the sound from the subwoofer. I mean, it's night and day if you are still using the 2 piece, small speakers that came with your Dell.Sound: 4 stars - The sound is very good. My only complaint is that it lacks the midrange sounds I like, but I would still buy these in a second again. The Bass, surprisingly pounds. By "pounds" I mean, for the price and size of the sub, it does a great job, you'll get a little rumble in the room. Setup: 3 stars - This is about my only complaint- The subwoofer cord is'nt that long so optimal placement might be tough. The only thing that unplugs is the subwoofer, everything else is conected with a cord that cannot be unattached from speakers & remote, which makes installihng them quite cumbersome if your placing them somewhere else than just a desktop. Style: 4 stars - I really like the looks of these. With the grills off, the speakers have a brushed aluminum look that is very sharp. The stands are pretty basic, but the subwoofer with silver front is very sharp also. I actually flipped my speakers upside on the stands (attached with screw, no meant to be done, but fits quite well and looks better I think). This way it covered most of the stand and put the speakers on more of an angle. Once you get them you'll understand better what I did. Overall: 4 stars - I'm over very pleased with these speakers and sub. I actually bought them for my XM Myfiand computers. They work sweet with the myfi. Hope my lil review helped....!!!

Bought it for $79.99 from COSTCO about a month ago. I like it very much, it has terrific sound and the price is very reasonable. The only complain is that the cable is sort of short, so the subwoofer has to be put close to satellite speakers. I usually would like to arrange the subwoofer on the floor to leave more space on my desk. But,any way, it is a solid product and you will not regret buying it.

EXCELLENT sound for the price!,

Picked this up (for way more than listed here) at a local electronics store a few months ago. I needed a decent speaker setup for my dorm room that would give me good bass and clear sound, but not overkill like some of the speaker setups today (6.1, 7.1, etc.)All I can say is that everyone on my floor can hear them if I decide to turn up the volume. The subwoofer adjusts to however you want it to sound, and the speakers are crystal clear. For $69.99, this is a steal. I picked them up for around 100 bucks, and I still think they are worth the money.

GREAT SOUND!,

After reading several reviews, I decided to buy these speakers. I was happy to find that the reviews were right and these speakers sound great! They are more expensive on other websites (up to $100), so they are also a great deal. I use them for my ipod, and I just can't beleive how good they sound! What a deal!

Great solid speakers,
This review is from: Logitech Z-3i 3-Piece Speaker System (Silver) (Personal Computers)
These are the best speakers I've ever owned up to this point, both in terms of performance and style. Having said that, I should note that I'm moving up from an old 2-piece Sony set that came with my older computer (they were very good OEM speakers, but looked embarrassing next to my Powerbook).Sound quality: I have to stress the importance of equalizer settings, which can make or break the speakers. Previous reviewers mentioned the lack of a midrange, and indeed it did seem unsatisfactory when I just plugged these speakers in with my original equalizer settings. But giving the equalizer a hike in the 500 Hz range solved that problem right away. However, one thing I could not fix no matter what I did was the slight, but noticeable, static the speakers emit when playing a song with loud, high, resonant sounds like an intense piano, operatic male vocals, and gongs. You can make the static less noticeable, but it doesn't seem to go away completely. This is the primary reason why I'm giving these speakers 4 stars instead of 5. However, rock, pop, and even shrill Chinese flutes and strings sound just perfect on the speakers (after messing around with equalizer settings and coming up with my personal speaker-specific "perfect" preset). If you listen really carefully, you may hear some of the static I mentioned earlier with loud rock songs, but I really couldn't care less about it with rock songs. The bass is just heavenly, coming from a total lack of it. It's more than enough for my tastes (and my tiny room) so I'm somewhat afraid to try it out at full volume and max equalizer settings. Setup/customizability: I'm using these with a small laptop, so the rather short line between the speakers, the remote, and the subwoofer is actually more than enough for me (I never took off the twist tie bundling the audio jack line). I have my speakers set up on both sides of my screen (about 2.5' apart and elevated around 6") and the subwoofer on the floor under my desk. Ideally, I'd like to have the speakers point slightly downward, since they are elevated on my desk. The stand allows the speakers to be aranged horizontally, upside-down, or completely legless, but always pointing a few degrees above parallel. Attaching the legs on backwards would theoretically allow the speakers to point slightly downwards, but I would need to get longer screws, and it would take more room if it doesn't completely fall over from being too front-heavy. Style: I couldn't be happier with how the speakers look next to my Powerbook. All of the wiring is the same ice white as Apple wiring, which is just perfect for me. My one tiny complaint is the blue LED on the remote, which I find slightly distracting and somewhat out of sync with the subtle white and green LEDs of my Powerbook. However, I can definitely get used to having this softer blue LED constantly in sight, while I can hardly stand to look at some of the other piercing blue LEDs on my peripherals. Overall, I'm incredibly satisfied with these speakers. I can only see myself liking them more over time, since I tend to be more critical when I first make a purchase, and then be lulled into happy complacency over time. They were a steal at the $30 I paid for them. It was also nice that I got them a full week before Amazon's expected arrival date. However, I'm rather stingy, so I don't think I would pay more than $60 for these speakers (at that price, I might go for JBL Creatures on sale). Otherwise, I highly recommend these to those looking for more than the average 2.1 speaker system, but nothing overwhelmingly fancy or expensive.

I bought these speakers for my mom, but had to audition them first. They have a wonderful sound for the price,so I say 5 stars, but what really sets them apart is the pretty white and silver finish. I bought my mom a Samsung 193p+ display and the colors of these speakers make a good match. One drawback I found is the three wires between the satellites and the remote, while plenty long are joined together in a triple siamese fashion, but I found it easy to peel them apart to just the length I wanted between the speakers.

Before I begin, I bought this set as a gift (was on sale for around $35), but own a Logitech Z-640. Pleased with the Z-640, I decided to buy from Logitech again. Now, to the review!Ordered this 2.1 speaker set (two front speakers and a subwoofer) for my girlfriend's birthday last year, and am pleasantly surprised by the price/quality ratio! The Z-3i looks great next to her iBook, matching the white colors. Since the speakers are only 2.1, hooking the speakers up was very simple. Plug the green jack into the headphone jack, plug the power plug in and you're good to go! Great for laptops that don't have the orange and black output jacks included in surround sound speaker sets (Note: green = left & right channels, black = rear left & rear right, orange = center & subwoofer) Since her dorm room is quite small (approx. 11'x11'), the bass is quite powerful; there is enough punch to shake rooms several its size. The included wired remote (with a volume knob and power button) is pretty handy, makes me wish that my speaker set had one as well (my controls are on the center speaker, which requires me to stretch a bit further). There's no way to control the treble or bass through hardware knobs, so tweaking is left to software equalizers, such as the one built into iTunes. PROS + Affordable + Setting up is simple + Looks great with the iBook/Macbook (white) + Durable metal speaker bases + Wired remote + Strong bass CONS - No hardware control of treble/bass This is a great speaker set for small to medium-sized rooms, laptops and for the non-audiophile!

For the price, this basic speaker system rocks. Good sound, too. It's also survived 4 moves and 7 years of use, and still works perfectly.

I have had these speakers for a long time and they work great. The only warning I have is that with the sub woofer they can be a little too much bass sometimes. Great for music. Definitely would buy again.

I have had these speakers for almost 2 years and they work just fine. The sound is great. I just bought a second set for my parents!
