It does add weight and thickness but also helps protect the iPad .

The key spacing on the keyboard is similar to a standard one which makes it very easy to use right away with little "re-training" of my fingers.

I received this case/keyboard combination just a few days ago. Here are my initial thoughts about the product.

    Pros:
The iPad fits snuggly into the case and feels solid, as if it were one entire unit.
The rotating action of the keyboard is nice and smooth although it does take two hands to get it into its functional position.
It pairs quickly and easily with the iPad.
The combination looks very sleek when open.
It closes very easily and smoothly.
The key spacing on the keyboard is similar to a standard one which makes it very easy to use right away with little "re-training" of my fingers.
It works and fits well with the Smart Cover.
The keys are quiet when hit and have a nice solid feel.

    Cons:
It does add a noticeable bit of weight.
When closed, it looses some of the iPad's sleekness.
The iPad is not detachable when it's in the case.
When closing, gravity tends to make it a little rough unless you hold onto the iPad as you close it. It's kind of like slamming a door shut instead of holding on to the doorknob all the way until it's closed. (I'm not a door-slammer.)
The iPad cannot be rotated. It can only be used in landscape.
There is only 1 viewing angle.

    Features I wish it had:
Because of the weight, I'd like to be able to remove the iPad easily when I know I won't need the keyboard.
The product can be made thinner and still retain its rigidity by using lightweight metal alloys instead of high-density plastic for some parts.
    Multiple viewing angles.
With the release button, there should be a spring-like action that pops the iPad out a little bit when opening and provides some resistance when closing.

Overall, it's a product, I feel, that is about 75 to 80% mature. Some good thought went into the product and it's nicely designed. I'm not 100% sold on it yet though.

I've tried other iPad keyboards, but were not impressed with them due to the fact that they were not full-size keyboards. The idea of a full-size keyboard intrigued me and I was the first to purchase this product directly from Logitech. The product is well made and the concept is great; however, this is far away from being perfect.

My biggest issue is how much bulk the keyboard adds to the Ipad 2. You lose the portability and the intent of the iPad 2 and instead, what you essentally have is a mini laptop; something slightly smaller than your notebook computer.

So, I went back to the basic platic cover and only carry this keyboard with me if I know I'll be typing and catching up on emails for an extended period of time. If they could make it at a lower profile, I would consider using it full time.

Overall nice - The ipad feels a lot like a laptop now, though with a touchscreen !

    The buttons are reachable.

    The keyboard itself is great.

Sometimes i feel like i might break it while trying to get the ipad out - maybe i'll get over my fear in time.

Does add some weight and bulk, but its worth it.

Wish it was made of metal !

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I decided to type this review using the product, so know that it works. And the keyboard works quite well. I find typing on the iPad2 to be a chore. The touchscreen is not easy. So I have looked into bluetooth keyboards, but most are still the compact size.

This is an actual full size keyboard like you have on a laptop. There are active function keys and the arrows work. The case is convenient - the iPad just snaps in, you push a button, and the stand lifts the iPad as the keyboard unfolds. You can charge the keyboard via any usb apple charge adapter, but I discovered that my Blackberry Bold charger works just fine.

Pros: Full size bluetooth keyboard, stand holds iPad at good angle, esaily rechargeable, holds Bluetooth connection well, feels solid, and works well.

Cons: Unit is heavy - about the weight of a laptop with the iPad and cover, the unit doesn't have a cover so you still need one, stand is not adjustable, and no numeric keypad.

This keyboard is new and very different than the other smaller sized Keyboard Case for the iPad. The advantage of the Keyoard Case is that the cover fits perfectily over you iPod which acts as a protector. The othernew keyboard is extremely bulky but when expanded, you would have a full sized key board.

This keyboard is great for someone who always relying on using a full keyboard for taking notes, where the keyboad case is more for convenience and accessibility

I have fat fingers so I prefer the large full size keyboard. Thant being said, ladies with smaller fingers may find the smaller keyboards much more friendly.

    Just my thoughts.

There are two ways to carry a full-size keyboard for your iPad: 1) separate loose keyboard (e.g., Apple Aluminum keyboard), or 2) this Logitech folding keyboard. Every other keyboard I've seen for the iPad is slightly miniaturized (about 80% size at best). If you're a touch typist, this keyboard should be on your shortlist, and here's why.

Carrying a loose keyboard is no fun. It could damage the iPad (assuming you carry them together), fall out (probably while the iPad is being removed), get lost, and just generally be a nuisance. As for other options, every other iPad2/3 keyboard is somewhere between a chiclet keyboard and an 80% size keyboard. This keyboard is the only one I've seen which is full-size... and therefore compatible with touch typing. The feel and layout is nearly identical to the MacBook keyboards (and therefore the Apple Aluminum keyboard): slight tactile feedback for positive touch, and largely silent, with nearly identical first five rows. Row 6 has been piggybacked onto row 5 using the function key ("fn" on bottom left, a la Apple keyboards).

The keyboard folds out into landscape mode for the iPad --- which is arguably the best mode for word processing or wide material. However, there's no way to use the keyboard (in any normal fashion) in portrait mode. So portrait mode requires folding the keyboard (simple, quick) and using on table or handheld (e.g., like reading a book).

So how does this keyboard do what no other iPad keyboard cover can do? All these keyboards form fit to the body of an iPad --- which is too short for a full width keyboard. Therefore the keyboard designers shrink their "custom" keyboard layouts to fit the iPad --- to the tune of about 80% full size. However, the designers of the fold-up went one better.
