This is not a complicated product. It's light, sufficiently sturdy, easy to set up and take down, and will make your laptop more ergonomically friendly. The catches in the back for guiding wires is a plus.

A couple of pieces of advice:

1) This product is just about pointless without an external keyboard / mouse combo; the riser is basically there to help you make your laptop a replacement desktop. Given that Logitech already makes much of its income selling keyboards and mice, it makes sense for it to market a product, such as this, designed to make attaching external keyboards and mice to laptops a more enticing proposition. (Must be Logitech's master plan to turn your laptop into a desktop.)

2) If you plan on transitioning your laptop between "desktop" mode with the riser and "mobile" mode with any degree of regularity, and your keyboard / mouse combo isn't bluetooth, get a USB hub (like this one) and leave the keyboard and mouse plugged into that. The last thing you want to do is plug in any more cords than absolutely necessary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for, July 12, 2009
This review is from: Logitech Notebook Riser (N110) (Personal Computers)
I just bought a new 13-inch MacBook Pro and figured the only thing keeping it from becoming a desktop replacement for me was the viewing angle at my desk. I ordered this riser because it seemed to be just what I needed, and it's fantastic! Even though my laptop has a smaller screen than I'm used to for a desktop computer, having it eye-level makes all the difference in the world. I love the fact that the stand swivels so I can move it around easily for my comfort.

Also, I know that you're supposed to use an external keyboard, but I've been typing on an angle and it feels just like when I'm typing in bed, with the computer propped against my legs. Shame on me, I know, and I haven't done any really major typing yet with the riser, so if it becomes uncomfortable then I will get another keyboard. But for now, all is well.

Another plus is that it fits in my laptop sleeve with my computer, so I can have it with me wherever I need it.

This laptop riser is exactly what I needed. I love it!

ETA: I forgot to mention that this product is also really useful if you have cats and want to use a laptop at your desk all the time. Of course they want to walk all over your laptop keyboard if it is open, so having the riser as an option is a huge benefit!

4.0 out of 5 stars With this riser, I am no longer the Hunchback of Notre Dame!, June 24, 2009
This review is from: Logitech Notebook Riser (N110) (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
+ Pros:

+ Three different settings for notebook height.

+ Latches keep riser in place.

+ Swivel in the back to rotate the notebook.

- Cons:

- Cannot adjust height while notebook is on the riser.

I usually use the desktop computer in our house because our Dell notebook is hard for me to type on. Using a flat keyboard on a flat surface never worked well for me, so I was eager to try this out.

The riser is surprisingly light, and in all honesty I didn't think it would hold our 10lb notebook, but it held up with no problem. I was able to move the notebook from side to side on the swivel base, the latching was very sturdy, and my posture felt better looking straight ahead at the screen, as opposed to my usual table hunching.

Logitech's instructions were very easy to follow - I've uploaded some samples, they're all in picture format. This will take you no time at all to set up.

The only flaw with this product is the riser height cannot be changed without removing the notebook first. When I tried, it was very uncomfortable.

Overall, this is a great product and I would definitely recommend it for notebook users.

Update 4/8/2010

Unfortunately, the knobbies that make this adjustable broke off the other day (after one month) without much pressure, and unfortunately the window to return the item has passed. It still works on it's lowest setting. I'm reducing this from 5 stars to two. I'm going to take it up with the manufacturer and if they send a replacement (that I'll have to be more delicate with) then I'll raise the rating back up to three or four because I otherwise like it so much.

Another update

I got a free replacement from the manufacturer and reinforced the joints with epoxy. Haven't had any problems for about a year now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good product - like the swivel stand, July 9, 2009
By
This review is from: Logitech Notebook Riser (N110) (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Very good product - like the swivel stand.

I've tried several laptop stands of different makes, and even had one custom made of wood once. I have to say, compared to the others, this one fared very well. I particularly like two aspects of it:

(i) the swivel base, which at first I was very sceptical about, but ultimately really appreciated, and

(ii) how slim it is when collasped -- it can easily fit in my laptop bag w/o taking up very much space (and doesn't add any noticable weight since it's all light plastic)

On the whole, I am certianly pleased with this product. I originally bought it for someone else (since I have a few stands around the house already), but decided to try it out before passing it on. In the end, I decided to keep it for myself!

I'm very pleased with it, but give it 4 stars because of 2 factors:

(i) the latches on the front bottom which hold my laptop in place are slightly (~1/4 inch) too high for my laptop (Macbook 13.3"), which causes them to rub against my wrists a little while I'm using it. Making these slightly shorter would have still provided the same functionality without this minor nuisance. People with laptops with thicker bases likely won't notice this, though.

(ii) It IS made of relatively thin, light, and potentially breakable plastic. I'm moderately rough on these, shoving them into bookbags/notebook cases, and not being super delicate when opening/closing them -- I question whether the latch on this case used to open / close it will stand the test of time.

One the whole, if you're looking for a good stand, particularly one which stays open on a desktop, this might be the one for you. Macbook users, jsut know that the latche rise slightly above the keyboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, but why only 3 angles?, December 17, 2009

This is a great product from Logitech, which makes a great companion to your laptop. Very sturdy and doesn't look like it would break easily. However, you only have three settings: 20, 30 and 40 degree angles. Why not have more angles? What was stopping them? Surely they could've made room for more angles (From 10 to 50 degrees, in increments of 5 for example.) Aside from that, no complaints at all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome changed my life, October 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Logitech Notebook Riser (N110) (Personal Computers)
Yeah I know it's lame to say that this notebook riser changed my life, but it did. You never realize how much you are hunching over to read a laptop screen until you own this product. The angle of my neck while working is so much different and that effects everything from your posture to the state of your lower back pain (if you suffer from this). I purchased this product combined with a wireless keyboard/mouse set as well as an ergonomic desk chair.

This Logitech riser is a really simple and solid product. It is basically like a small lap tray that has a foldable angle stand that swivels. The laptop rests on the surface held in place by small "feet" tabs that are coated in a silicon or rubber material. The stand rests on a circular foot that has some sort of anti friction coating and makes it stay put on your desk.. This allows the laptop stand to rotate 360 degrees from the center of the stand. It also has adjustable setting to alternate between 10-40 degrees of elevation making the angle of viewing from your sitting position adjustable based on your height while sitting. I have no fear of it collapsing or dropping my Macbook.

Being someone who has operated a home office for 3 years I cannot believe I did not invest in an ergonomic workspace sooner. This laptop riser is a very valuable piece in the puzzle to alleviating back pain resulting from long hours at a computer desk. Buy this product, it is great and will serve you well.

4.0 out of 5 stars good desk top item, August 28, 2009

This item helps change the angle of view for your laptop or netbook. It works nicely and stores easily if you prefer not to use it. It is very sturdy and attractive. The drawbwacks are the limited number of positions-3- and the lack of legs which would make it good item for travel with a laptop or netbook. It would also be nice if it had holes to serve as a cooler. Otherwise its pretty handy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well on lap or desktop, June 29, 2009
This review is from: Logitech Notebook Riser (N110) (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This laptop riser works well on a desk or lap to keep a laptop at a better angle, and a bit cooler on 80 degree days.

It can be adjusted to a number of angles, and has a clever swivel feature for use on a desktop, and some L-shaped tabs for cord management. The riser folds flat so you can slip it into a briefcase or tote. It's an attractive whisper-pale grey with accents of leaf green. It's not flimsy, but I'd be surprised if this lasted more that a year or two, even with careful use.

If you need to keep your laptop at a more ergonomic angle at home, or you'd prefer to raise it slightly in your lap, this might be just the right solution. I can't see bothering with a gadget like this myself, but others may find it useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid notebook riser, June 25, 2009
This review is from: Logitech Notebook Riser (N110) (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've never owned a notebook riser before, not because I don't need one but simply through laziness and not paying enough attention to ergonomics. After using this one for a few days, all I can say is 'wow, I wish I'd gotten one of these sooner!" The ease of use, ergonomic advantages (keeping your wrists at a natural angle when typing as well as allowing for the correct viewing angle--which lessens strain on the neck) and functionality of this riser are great. Logitech, well known to gamers for making quality joy-sticks (going all the way back to the original Wingman of X-wing vs. Tie Fighter fame) and keyboards and mice, has created a simple, sleek, and highly functional notebook/laptop riser that I quite like. There are no frills to the N110, but it's not missing anything either.

Changing laptop angle is as simple as adjusting the locking arm that connects to the back of the main support board. There are adjustments for 10 degrees to 40 degrees. The entire riser is made from high-impact plastic and feels very solid despite the 'pop-up tent' design. There is even a wire management solution in on the back, so if you don't move your notebook much you can hide wires behind the riser. The rubber pads on the support arms that hold the bottom edge of a notebook are also well made and very firm.

The biggest advantage to this riser is that it is very light and portable. You can slip it in your computer bag and take it with you. It's fantastic for using your notebook in any situation where you have little or no control over the angle of your back --like at a restaurant or coffee shop-- because you can choose a good variety of angles for the screen. This is even more useful if you are using the computer to watch a movie or play a game; anything where screen angle is essential.

I don't have any complaints, but I do have a few things I'd like to see Logitecj implement into a future riser:

1) A cooling solution to combine a laptop cooler and riser seamlessly. I really like my Antec laptop cooler, but I can't use it conjunction with this riser, so I am forced to choose from the cooling option of the ergonomic option.

2) A bit more stability in the riser, especially at angles greater than 20%. Because the back support is on a swivel, I noticed that as I typed with the angle adjusted at 30% that the screen was shaking very slightly. Not very noticeable, but it could be an issue if you are very sensitive to screen shake.

Overall the N110 is a winner. Light, easy to use, and very good for your term neck, back and eyes, this riser is made well enough to last quite a while. I will continue to update this review as time passes and elaborate on wear & tear, as well as any other helpful observations.
